    ERRACE funds raised will be utilized to help patient support programs the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center at Hartford Hospital. This could include psychosocial support, financial counseling, nutritional support, educational programs, navigation, and integrative medicine. These programs are highly valued by our patients and families, not typically covered by insurance, and frequently truly make a difference on the lives of patients and families. These could be utilized to help patients in our cancer centers in Hartford, Avon and Manchester.

    Whether you are a cyclist, runner, or walker we have an event for you! The events are accompanied by a day filled with family friendly wellness information and raffle, all benefiting the everyday fight against cancer. There will also be live entertainment and plenty of food.

    We strongly encourage all to pre-register. There will be a limit of 800 pre-registrations this year. Online registration will close on Friday, July 10th, however fees increase on June 1. You may register the day of the event for a $10 surcharge but pre-registration is strongly encouraged & helpful. Please come join us for this exciting cause-worthy event!

    Directions:

    From I-84 East & West

    -Take Exit 39 (Route 4/Farmington).

    -Go straight through 1st light at the end of the exit ramp and continue down Route 4

    -Turn Right onto Route 10 North (Waterville Road)

    -Continue North on Waterville Road/ Route 10 North for 5.5 miles

    -Turn left onto Route 44 West for 0.7 miles

    -At the 3rd light, turn Right onto Route 10 North / US- 202 (Simsbury Road)

    -At the 1st light, turn left onto Fisher Drive (across from the Avon Wellness Center)

    -The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon will be on the right.

    Note: If you reach Simsbury on 10N/US202, you missed the turn.

    From I-91 North of Hartford

    -Take Exit 40 (CT-20 W/Bradley International Airport)

    -Continue West on Route 20 for 3.1 miles

    -Merge onto the East Granby/Granby exit (Route 20 W)

    -Continue on Route 20 West/Rainbow Road. for 6 miles (Rainbow Road becomes Turkey Hills Road)

    -Turn Left onto Rte 10 S/US-202 (Salmon Brook Street) and head South for 10.4 miles

    -Salmon Brook Street becomes Hopmeadow Street then becomes Simsbury Road

    -Turn Right onto Fisher Drive, (located across from the Avon Wellness Center)

    -The Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center-Avon will be on the right.

    Note: If you reach Rte 44, you missed the turn

    From I-91 South of Hartford

    -Head North on Rte 91

    -Take Exit 31 for 84 West

    -Take Exit 39 (Route 4/Farmington)

    -Go straight through 1st light at the end of the exit ramp and continue down Route 4

    -Turn Right onto Route 10 North (Waterville Road)

    The challenging, highly rewarding Litchfield Hills Triathlon allows athletes to enjoy the scenic beauty of New Hartford, CT, and the surrounding area in this Olympic distance event.

    Olympic Triathlon & AquaBike

    Start with a 1500m swim in the crystal clear waters of famous West Hill Lake, among the cleanest freshwater lakes in Connecticut, followed by a 40K bike course with stunning mountain vistas and finish with a 10K run on rural back roads.

    Paratriathletes and relay teams are welcome.

    Our 5 Mile Race is one of Connecticut's oldest running events - this will be our 53rd year. Please thank this years sponsors for making it all possible: O&G Industries, Torrington Savings Bank, O&G Industries, Michaels Jewelers, Brooks Todd & McNeil, Advanced Physical Therapy, Eastside Electric, Borghesi Building and Engineering, Mount Claire Water Company, Hartford Health Care - Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Lines and Letters, Kids Play, Trinity Ambulance and the Torrington Park and Recreation Department

    Event details and schedule

    The 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 9:30am.

    The 5 Mile Run starts at 10:00am.

    The course is mostly flat with a few very small hills (Former USATF Certified Course #CT0008DR).

    Free Tee Shirts to the first 100 registrants only - no other tee shirts are available.

    Run with us and we'll do our best to see that you have an enjoyable time.

    Donations benefit the Torrington Trails Network which is working on various walking, jogging, biking path in the area, the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Pink Rose Fund (supporting breast cancer patients), and other local charities.

    2026 Hogsback Half Marathon Information:

    Start Time: 8:30 a.m. on September 26, 2025.

    Amenities:

    • Rural course on lightly travelled country roads along the Farmington River;

    • Amazing race shirts;

    • 6 aid stations -- all stations have fluids two will also be stocked with gels;

    • Great post-race food;

    • Custom finisher medals;

    • Electronic bib tag timing;

    • Awards for overall and 5-year age groups.

    • Fun raffle prizes.

    Course: Fast USATF certified course with a 100 foot net elevation decrease. You'll run on country roads through the towns of Riverton, Pleasant Valley, Hartland and Colebrook, Connecticut.

    Awards: Top 3 overall male and female runners and 3 deep in 5 year age divisions (18 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 +) for male, female and non-binary.

    Proceeds: All proceeds from the race benefit Running for Rescues. Running for Rescues is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of shelter animals. Running for Rescues supports small, grassroots organizations on the front lines - people pulling animals out of shelters before they are put to sleep. The cost associated with their efforts can be staggering! Running for Rescues funds shots, spay/neuter, transport, boarding, or food while the animal is being fostered and gives animals the opportunity to find a forever home.
