and a full day of run, dogs, beer, and FUN!

    WHERE:

    Atypical Brewery & Barrelworks

510 E Central Ave, Minot, ND

    WHY:

We love running, dogs, and beer and we wanted turn those loves into a way to give back to the animal rescue organizations in our community.

This race is fun and social and is NOT a qualifier for the World Championship (yes that’s a real thing).

    EVENTS:

5k Run/Walk and Dog Jog – This is a traditional 5K event and will be timed. You can run it as fast as you can or jog/walk it for fun. Feel free to bring your dog with you as this event is “for the dogs”, but dogs are not required! All human participants will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as a free post run beer at Atypical.

Beer Mile – Please join us for the 3rd annual Beer Mile! 4 Beers and a 1 Mile run! Here is how it is done..

    • Drink one full can of beer within the sectioned off Beer Zone on our course.

    • Run one loop of the 1/4 mile course. Simply follow the cones and back to the Beer Zone

    • You will repeat the above steps 3 more times.

    • If you "toss your cookies" (PLEASE use one of the garbage receptacles along the course for this purpose), you have to run a one lap penalty for this offense.

**Thankfully you don't have to consume an extra beer, just run an additional 1/4 mile.

Does that sound like an impossible feat? Get four friends and sign up for a Relay Team!

** You will be required to show your driver’s license or proof of age. NO ID, NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS. All participants will be given a wrist bracelet that must be worn during the event.

All participants of the beer mile will get a signature Hair of the Dog mug as well as the four free Atypical beers used in the event.

Kids Donut Dash – A fun opportunity for the kids to get in on the action and for us to cheer them on! This event is for children 12 and under and will require them to eat a donut quickly and then run 1/4 a mile. All participants will receive a Donut Dash participation medal.

Wiener Dog Derby – All Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes welcome. If we have enough registered Dachshunds we will have age categories but otherwise the top 3 dogs win. Each Dachshund should bring two human assistants, one to let them go when the race director yells “go” and one to stand on the other end of the lane bribing them with food or treats to get them to the other end the fastest. Each dog participant will get a treat bag and custom race bandana to wear at the event.

Packet Pickup and Day of Registration:

Packet pickup will be held Friday May 8th from 4:30-7:00pm at Atypical Brewery and Barrelworks as well as the morning of the event from 8:45-9:45am. There will also be an additional beer mile packet pickup from 11-11:45 and a wiener dog check in from 1:30-2:00. Same day registration will be available for all events. Cash and credit cards accepted.

Signature Hair of the Dog shirts and stickers will be available for purchase as an add-on the day of the event with all profits going directly to the animal rescues.

5K-Top 3 Overall Male, Female, and Dog will be awarded.

The Scheels BurliMOT Half Marathon is a unique running event that showcases the beautiful communities of Burlington and Minot, ND by way of a scenic 13.1 mile course that follows the Souris Valley along dedicated running/biking paths. The race ends in downtown Minot.

All runners registered for the half marathon, half marathon relay, or 5K by September 1st will receive a custom BurliMOT shirt.

Medals will be also be provided for all half marathon, half marathon relay, and 5K finishers.

    Races:

Half Marathon - Starts in Burlington on Saturday, September 12th at 8:00am. Shuttles will be available from downtown to get you to the start line. Parking near the race start is located on the north side of the Sports Complex; please follow Colton Ave to Davis St North, then turn right onto Valley Ave. The race ends downtown Minot.

Half Marathon Relay - This race starts at the same time as the Half Marathon and follows the same course. Relay runners can exchange wherever they want along the course. The first leg can run 11 miles and the second can run 2.1, if they choose. The second leg will just need to be waiting on the course wherever the team decides and hop on when the first leg gets to that point. You may also add additional runners (up to 4 total) and each can run their own portion of the half marathon relay, exchanging wherever your team decides. The cost of the Half Marathon Relay covers two participants, but additional shirts and medals will be available for purchase for those additional runners. The half way point is located by Dakota Bark Park at 2905 7th Ave SW, Minot. There is no shuttle to the half way point so although those running the 1st leg can hop on the shuttle to get to the start of their leg in Burlington, the 2nd leg is responsible for getting themselves to the start of the the 2nd leg.

There is parking by the dog park and the baseball diamonds. When registering for this race, you have the option to allow the 1st leg person for the relay to continue on to finish the full half marathon, it just needs to be noted in the questions answered during registration so we know to chip them for both the relay and the half marathon.

5K - This race starts at Oak Park located at 1300 4th Ave NW, Minot at 8:30am by the bandshell. The 5K then joins along the half marathon course and finishes with them downtown. Parking is located next to the Oak Park Splash Pad and the Oak Park Village across 4th Ave from the entrance of Oak Park. Please do NOT park in the Main Oak Park parking area.
