What is Mars Hill Cycling Road Bike Camp

A 6-day overnight camp for male and female junior riders looking to develop skills, confidence, and fitness. Each day introduces new skills culminating in an epic day climbing switchbacks and through tunnels to the top of Mt Pisgah and then descending back down! We'll get in plenty of mileage on Madison County's lightly traveled roads, with short/steep climbs, long steady ascents/descents, and flat roads along the river. Group riding experience is a prerequisite.

What you can expect: skills and bike handling sessions; group riding etiquette and rotations; proper bike fit and position; aerodynamics, power-to-weight, and equipment selection; race strategy and tactics; fueling and recovery; bike maintenance and repair; training plans and goal setting; core and off-bike strength training; mock racing exercises including climbing, sprinting, cornering, time trialing, attacking, bridging. Plus, picnics, games, movie nights, and swimming holes!

    What about Gravel?

On paper this is still our road camp. If we have more than 6 riders interested in the hybrid gravel camp, then for those riders over 50% of the ride time we will split off from the main group and ride gravel while working on gravel specific skills and training. There will be road days at gravel camp, we won't be on gravel for every ride, if you would like to swap wheels or bikes for road days that is allowed/encouraged.

If we do not have more than 5 gravel riders and you are unwilling to do road camp then we will refund your entry.

    Paying for camp:

1 The most direct: You can follow the instructions above and register on Bike-Reg. This is the most direct way.

2 The least expensive: You can pay via check, which avoids Bike-Reg transaction fees ($70), after paying we will email you a code to complete your registration on Bike-Reg.

3 Spreading out the cost: BikeReg now offers the ability to spread out your payments when you pay for camp using PayPal https://www.paypal.com/us/digital-wallet/ways-to-pay/buy-now-pay-later

Mars Hill Cycling Camps and USA Cycling:

For years Mars Hill Cycling Camps have aimed to provide not only a fun and enriching summer road and mountain bike overnight camp experience, but also to provide education and training to help campers reach the next level in their sport. For 2023 and 2024 we were recognized by USA Cycling as a part of their Athlete Development Pathway Regional Camp system. For 2025 there are no longer USAC ADP Regional camps, but Mars Hill Cycling Camp aims to continue building on the years of success we have had with that model, including offering certified rider instruction, challenging riders' fitness, building character and helping riders find their next opportunity in sport. All campers can expect the same riding, fun, and enrichment we’ve always provided.

Education: Discussions and seminars on multiple topics to improve athletic performance.

Skills: Sessions designed to increase understanding of skills and foster safe methods for improvement.

Training: Solid training and testing protocols to increase fitness.

    Exceeding Industry Standards:

Mars Hill Cycling Camp also aims to meet or exceed relevant industry standards including certified coaching staff with PMBIA and USA Cycling Coaching Licenses, Safe Sport Training Staff, First Aid and CPR Trained Staff, Wilderness First Aid Certifications, insured and permitted to operate.

    Housing:

The default dorm housing is dual occupancy. Community bathrooms, separate wings for men and women. We will pair you with a sibling, a friend that you know, or with a camper of similar age. This works great for most campers but we also understand that some campers may have a need for a single occupancy dorm. A single occupancy room can be added for $150 via BikeReg or at check in on a first come first serve basis.

For more information about camp please see our website https://www.marshillcyclingcamp.com/mountain-bike-camp.

We also have a facebook where we post daily recaps https://www.facebook.com/MarsHillCyclingCamp/ and an instagram https://www.instagram.com/marshillcyclingcamp/

If you cannot pay for camp at one time, we do allow installment payments. We also allow a non-refundable deposit to be made to hold a space in camp. Email [email protected] or [email protected] if needed.

  • Blue Ridge Relay [blueridgerelay.com] [Register at runsignup.com]

    Fri, Sep 11, 2026 at 5:00 AM

    Thank YOU 2025 Runners!

Hope to see you in 2026...

as we begin the 3rd decade of running the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains!

    September 11-12, 2026 (Fri. - Sat.)

The Blue Ridge Relay (BRR), which

is one of the longest running relay races in the United States, takes place in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and North Carolina. BRR consists of maximum 12 person (4 person minimum) teams that rotate through 36 transition areas as they cover the approximate 208 mile distance of the race.

    The Start!

BRR starts in Grayson Highlands State Park, VA at an elevation of 4920′, near the base of Mount Rogers (5729′), the highest peak in Virginia. The Highlands’ defining feature are the high elevation balds that are spotted with stands of native Fraser Fir, boulder fields and a herd of wild ponies. In addition, the Highlands feature the Appalachian Trail and the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.

    The Journey!

After leaving Grayson Highlands, BRR primarily follows scenic, country roads as it winds its way through North Carolina’s High Country. In addition to the balds of Grayson Highlands, the course features some of the region’s most spectacular scenery.

    1. The Blue Ridge Parkway is the most visited treasure of the National Park Service…BRR has permission to run 4 legs (almost 20 miles) on the Parkway, all of which capture the big views of the Blue Ridge.

    2. The New River is a designated National Wild and Scenic River, as well as one of only 14 American Heritage Rivers in the USA…BRR runs sections of 4 legs along almost 14 miles of the spectacular New River.

    3. BRR doesn’t run to the summit of Grandfather Mountain (5964′), but the 10.5 miles of Leg 15 wind along Grandfather’s south shoulder.

    4. The scenic beauty of the BRR is also captured in the less known or unnamed sites along the one lane gravel roads of mountain hollows, rolling Christmas tree farms, nighttime legs along many of the mountain rivers and creeks, and breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge.

    5. BRR runs through many quaint and revitalized small towns and hamlets before the finish in Asheville, NC:

    Jefferson

    West Jefferson

    Todd

    Boone

    Blowing Rock

    Linville

    Newland

    Spruce Pine

    Bakersville

    Burnsville

    1. The Finish!

After an epic 208 miles of running and 20-36 hours in a van with some of your closest friends, what better way to finish than at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC. Highland Brewing Company will once again be hosting the BRR Finish in their Meadow, with a variety of food trucks, it's big lawn, plenty of shade, picnic tables and of course, Highland Brewing Company.
