SWIM WAVE AND RACE START TIME:

First wave will go into the water at 7:30 a.m. Waves will go into water in three (3) minute intervals. Exact wave times will be announced prior to the race. No matter which wave you are assigned, EVERY ATHLETE should be prepared to be at the beach by 7:15 a.m. for race director meeting and to go in your assigned wave.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED / WHAT IS PROVIDED?

SWIM-Not required, but definitely a strong suggestion would be swim goggles or a mask. No artificial propulsion device, including but not limited to fins, gloves, paddles, or floating devices of any kind are allowed. Depending on the weather, there are some broken shells at the venue during the swim so you are allowed to wear water shoe on the swim. We will provide you with a swim cap that will correspond to the swim wave you are assigned to. You MUST wear your assigned Swim Cap.

BIKE-You will need a bicycle and helmet. The race does not provide bikes for athletes but there are local bike shops that do rent bicycles by the day. Please Google search or look up Tampa Bay bike shops and I'm sure you will quickly be led to a bike if you need to rent one. USAT rules stipulate that you must wear a helmet and have it clipped in before you begin the bike portion of the race. You will be disqualified if you do not. We will provide you with numbers for your Helmet and Bike to use race day, they will be in your packet.

RUN-You will need a pair of running shoes. We will provide you with your bib number and pins, which must be worn on the front of your person during the final run portion of the event and at the finish line.

TRANSITION-We recommend that you bring a towel to lay your items out in transition. Some folks like to bring a container of fresh water to rinse off their feet after the swim. Wear sunscreen, it's typically sunny and very hot, But please DO NOT APPLY sunscreen until AFTER you have been Body Marked. We will assign you a race number that you will find on a rack in transition. You will need to have yourself body marked and wearing your timing chip to be allowed into transition. ONLY participating athletes will be allowed in transition.

TIMING - All athletes will have your Disposable Timing Chip included in your Race Envelope. Simply remove the small tab at the end of the strap to reveal the adhesive. You will wear the chip on your left ankle. Make sure to leave 2 fingers of space between the strap and your leg to avoid chaffing. DO NOT REMOVE THE FOAM PIECES ON THE STRAP. You will be timed in 5 areas of the race. As a backup, we encourage athletes to shout out their number as they run pass a timing point, so the manual backup timers can get your number.

    COURSE:

    TRIATHLON - ¼ MILE SWIM:

The swim takes place along the middle Honeymoon Island beach. The swim is a triangle course starting and finishing on the beach. The depth of the water ranges from very shallow near the shore to 8-12 feet, depending on the tide. If you need to move inside the buoys to rest you may NOT make forward motion. You may only make forward motion once you have regained a position on the course. Please note before you head to swim start to count how many rows in or out your bike rack is positioned so you are not confused when you enter T1.

DUATHLON - 1M RUN: Note: Run #1 of the Duathlon Course has been reduced to One (1) Mile. Run #2 will remain the 5K Distance

The first mile of the run course goes along the hard asphalt of the parking lots along the west coast of the island. The run takes you across the island and onto a hard packed trail into the shady and remote trails of Osprey Trailhead. The final half mile leads you out of Osprey and back onto the asphalt of the parking lot to the finish line. Please note before you head to run start to count how many rows in or out your bike rack is positioned so you are not confused when you enter T1.

    AQUABIKE - SWIM / BIKE:

The AquaBike Course ENDS as you cross the timing point into Transition #2 and complete the Bike Segment. Then proceed at your leisure, to the Finish Line for your Finisher Medal.

    TRANSITION ONE - T1

Both Triathletes and Duathletes will enter Transition following their first evolution. Athletes are timed in transition by the RFID Chip timing device worn on their ankle. The time from swim end and T1 begins when the athlete crosses over the timing mat. Athletes may run in transition as they progress to their designated bike rack.

    12 MILE BIKE

The bike course is a 6 mile loop over the Dunedin Causeway draw bridge and into and around Honeymoon Island. The lap is done twice for a total of 12 miles. Athletes will be counted as the complete the first lap to make sure everyone does the entire course. No radios or headsets are allowed on the bike course. Your bike helmet must be secured and fastened before you mount your bike at the mounting line. No athlete may ever ride their bike inside the transition area. HELMETS MUST BE WORN through the entire bike course. Without one you are a liability to the safety of the event. If you approach a no passing, dismount, or slow down area, do as you are told. These areas are set because we have very carefully gone over the course and take measures to keep you all safe.

PASSING ON THE BIKE When on the bike course, keep to the hard right. If you intend to pass, make sure you have room, and then move out, and call out in a loud voice, ON YOUR LEFT. Make your pass then move again to the hard right of the bike path. DO NOT PASS ON THE RIGHT.

    TRANSITION TWO

T2– Entering the transition for the second time you must dismount your bike at the designated dismount line. Keep your helmet on and fastened until you are back at your bike rack. You must dock your bike in the same area designated to be in at race start. Change into your running shoes and secure your race number.

    5K RUN:

The run course starts out of Transition through the Parking Lots and along the Northwest coast of the island. It's sunny, easy and GORGEOUS. The loop portion of the run takes you onto a hard packed trail near the shady and remote trails of the Osprey Trailhead and back onto the asphalt of the roads and parking lot to the finish line. DUE TO HURRICANE DAMAGE TO THE TRAIL and a recent storm, we have modified the RUN to include 2 Laps. Please review the Map

    Hello Summer Runners and Walkers!

This is our favorite 5K of the SUMMER! When the season has slowed down, the fun in Florida never does, so hydrate, lace up your shoes, and join us for this great summer 5K, Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Of course if it gets too hot we’ll add a “race week one mile” that you can transfer into on race morning if you’d like to beat the heat. You’ll still get all the same goodies at HOB Brewing Company, with an awesome finisher’s medal, free beer, electronic timing, awards for faster runners, and of our the coveted RUN FLORIDA Dunedin Running shirts that we are beginning to se in states around the nation as so many of you have planned to do one of our 727CanRace runs when you travel into Tampa Bay!! We love you for that and pride that we have hosted more independent runs since 2004 than any other race management couple! Team Mannino is HERE TO SERVE!

Our Dunedin Summer 5K is held this year Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., at HOB Brewing Co in downtown Dunedin where the PARTY begins with your RUNNING! (or walking). Dunedin is ALL ABOUT LOVE AND UNITY so all are welcome and we’ll kick off with a free kids dash for any of our youth on site race morning around 8:15 a.m. no registration needed for this fun event for the kids.

Plan to arrive at HOB Brewing Company,941 Huntley Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698 no earlier than 7:30 a.m. in order to allow our volunteers plenty of time to get set up to have you all checked in quickly and efficiently before we begin the 5K at 8:30 a.m. If the weather is over 89 degrees on race morning we’ll add our 1 mile runners and walker will begin first at 8:25 am

An email will be sent to all registrants by 4 pm the day before the race with all of the most recent information you need for arrival and to ensure a great experience. If you do not receive this email the day before the run text 727-CAN-RACE with only a valid email address and we'll get it sent to you immediately.

We only offer light snacks at this venue but you are more than welcome to bring coolers, food, and snacks on your own so fuel up for comfort and made it a great summer run with the family and friends. Our teens from Dunedin High School benefit from your participation.

Your waiver of release is attached in this email. Please look up your bib number (this list is also attached) and print your waiver, sign it, and fill it out in order TO GREATLY expedite your check in experience. You’ll be directed to a longer check in line if you need to sign a waiver on site but we will provide them for those who do not have access to a printer. DO NOT email them back to us as they must be presented on race day.

Parking is free at the Artisan Parking Garage, 356 Monroe Street, Dunedin, FL 34698. After you park your vehicle, please walk west across the Pinellas Trail to HOB Brewing Company, 941 Huntley Avenue, Dunedin, FL 34698. This is your start/finish area. Please remain on site at HOB and off the Pinellas Trail until Suzanne calls your distance to walk you out together as a group to your exact starting area.

Police and volunteers are at each Pinellas Trail crossing but you are responsible for your own safety so eyes WIDE OPEN! Dunedin is BUSY and this is a celebratory weekend so even though we are fully permitted, the trail does NOT close to the public. Eyes wide open.

Your times will be recorded electronically using the RaceSplitter Timing System so please wear your bib number on the FRONT of your body so that it is visible not only for timing to record you at the start and finish line, but also so that police and volunteers on the course know that you are part of this private event.

We DO NOT post times at the venue as it’s always our goal to maintain a laid back group of runners and walkers at these celebratory events. The venue is family and dog friendly, however, If you are running with a stroller or a dog we ask that you start toward the back of the pack to keep them safe from passing runners. The trail will be packed with runners and walkers so keep to the right and please limit noise cancelling devices. WE WANT YOU TO BE SAFE! Call out nice things to each other!

Remember to pick up your FREE BEER armband at race check in if you are over the age of 21. This is what you will redeem for your free first beer at the main bar at HOB Brewing after you complete your distance.

Bag check is in the t-shirt zone for anyone who does not want to walk back to your car. Please do not leave valuables in your bag.

As you complete your run/walk and approach the finish line shoot, pick up your HOPS finisher’s medal as you cross the finish line. Also take a TOP FINISHER’S framed award if they are there when you finish your 5K! This means you are in the first 15 males and first 15 females to cross the finish line in your distance. It’s up to each of you to look at the awards table in the finish line shoot and to grab your TOP FINISHER frame. We discontinued issuing age group awards many years ago as it holds up the party. It’s more about the safety, fun, and unity than the speed in your performance at this venue so enjoy each other and add to the job of the day!

Restrooms can be found inside HOB Brewing company on arrival and throughout the day. We do not provide food after the race (only small snacks) so after your free beer and great time at the HOB we encourage you to venture to Dunedin’s downtown district all within walking distance to our many restaurants, breweries, and specialty shops from the gateway to the marina. Because this is a Sunday, please check "open" times before you choose a downtown location.

Thanks for being a part of this great run benefiting our teens from Dunedin High under the leadership of Coach Kyle Goodnow. Remember to thank a teen or law enforcement officer at the venue or on the course! It’s all about community and service.

We love to hear from you so please text me, Suzanne, for any questions and remember to register early to secure you space in the limited and fun summer sell out event.
