The Difference Dash 5k is organized by the ALH Ambassadors, a group of high school Juniors and Seniors from Athens City, Limestone County, Lauderdale County High School, Lexington High School and area private schools, who are participating in a workforce development program at Athens-Limestone Hospital. The ALH Ambassadors are hosting the Difference Dash 5k in order to fund the ALH Ambassador Scholarship program through Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation. Proceeds from the Difference Dash 5k will provide scholarships to multiple Senior Ambassadors who plan to pursue a career in healthcare.

The event will begin at Athens Middle School with a race route that takes runners through beautiful historic Athens, Alabama. FREE race shirt to the first 150 registered.

    Join us for the Wet Dog Triathlon at Point Mallard Park on July 11th, 2026 at 7:00 AM. This year will launch a new era for Wet Dog as it becomes a Team Rocket Tri Club managed race. Long time Race Director Leah Brown will still be very involved as we work together to make Wet Dog the very best open water sprint triathlon in North Alabama.

    Wet Dog Triathlon at Point Mallard is a 400 meter open water swim, followed by a 15k bike ride and a 5k run along the beautiful (and FLAT) banks of the Tennessee River at Decatur, Alabama. Wet Dog is a fundraiser for Tennessee Valley Outreach, Morgan County Rescue Squad, and Princess Theater.

    Wet Dog at Point Mallard is the second of three races that make up the Summer Sprint Series. Heel & Crank Duathlon and the Huntsville Sprint Triathlon are the remaining event in the series. Each participant who finishes will receive a series water bottle at no extra charge.

    Packet pickup will be Friday night at Cross Eyed Owl Brewery on Friday August 7th from 5-7PM at 105 1st Ave NE, Decatur, AL 35601. Packet pickup will be on race day, Saturday morning from 6:00AM-7:30AM in Point Mallard.
