When it comes to college basketball, THE ROAD STARTS HERE! Dayton, Ohio is host to the annual NCAA First Four which kicks off March Madness!

Here in Dayton we make it about more than just basketball; it's four full days of activities, and we tip off all the fun with the Big Hoopla 4 Miler on Selection Sunday,. New for 2025, the Big Hoopla 4 Miler, along with the STEM Challenge, move to Wright State University.

All participants receive a super soft tech tee, custom finisher medal and lots of post-race food. So, grab a friend or family member and come celebrate the excitement of March Madness with us at the Big Hoopla 4 Miler!

    This year's race will once again be an in-person race with a start at 9am and will also include the post-race breakfast! Shirts are included for the first 200, however, save $5 by selecting the No Shirt option.

    RACE DAY REGISTRATION:

    Pre-registered packet pick-up and race day registration

    7:30AM to 8:45AM

    AGE DIVISIONS:

    9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over

    AWARDS:

    Cash awards ($75, $50 & 25) to the top 3 male & female finishers and medals to the top 3 finishers in each age group.

    The Family Life Center will open at

    7am. Race will be run regardless of

    weather.

    THE RACE

    The Outdoor Experience 12 Hour Race (affectionately known as the OX12) is produced in collaboration with Five Rivers Metroparks and the Subaru Outdoor Experience.

    • 2.7+ mile loop course and flat!

    • Finisher Medals for those that travel upon the course for the full 12 hours.

    The University of Dayton Department of Health and Sport Science annual Thomas J. Frericks 5K event is set for 2026! The event will take place on UD's campus over Family Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 26th. The race will begin in front of the RecPlex at 10:00am. Proceeds of the Thomas J. Frericks 5K will benefit the Department of Health and Sport Science and Phi Epsilon Kappa.

    The cost for the in-person 5K event is $30. Registration includes a t-shirt if registered by Sept 1.

    Prizes will be awarded to the male and female overall winners and the top 3 males and females in each age division.
