3.1 Miles Fun Run Run

It's back! Join us on May 16, 2026 for the sixth annual, Milford's Merry Miles of May 5k race! This race offers a scenic view around the small town of Milford, KY. The course is flat and fast, with runners starting and finishing in the parking lot of Milford Christian Church. You'll be surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland as you begin your 3.1 mile journey. Around the 3/4 mile marker, participants will begin to run alongside the beautiful North Fork River. As you reach the half way point, you'll run near an old tobacco barn where you'll have the chance to stop for a sip of water and take in the awesome view. Don't soak in the view too long though, after all, it's a race...so...GO, GO, GO!!! Celebration starts after crossing the finish line, so be sure to hang around for the music, meal, and dessert auction!

All proceeds from this race will go towards Milford Christian Church's annual Christmas Shop. The Christmas Shop is a charitable event that helps to provide local youth with gifts for the holiday season. The Christmas Shop has been able to give 5-6 gifts to each child, providing for more than 350+ kids in 2025. Through your participation, you are helping to purchase toys for the Christmas Shop. It's our mission that every child in and around the surrounding area knows the love of Christ!

BACK AGAIN, TO THE SCHEDULE for 2026, is the Kids Fun Run, Milford's Mini Miles of May! The distance for this event will be 0.5 mile with a surprise gift for all finishers. Participants for this race must be ages 9 and under.

In order to allow parents to participate in the 5k race, we'll be providing a supervised viewing of a Christmas film, inside the church.

We look forward to seeing everyone on May 16th!

After the last obstacle, participants continue directly to the football field to sprint through a shuttle run, emphasizing quick bursts of speed, strength, stamina, agility, and precise movement. The challenge concludes with a final 1-mile run, pushing competitors to demonstrate resilience and determination as they finish strong.

Ultimate Raider Challenge – Course Navigation Instructions

    Start

Competitors will begin at the designated start line and complete an approximately 1-mile run. This run will conclude at the entrance to the obstacle course.

Obstacle Course (14 Obstacles / Approx. 1.5 Miles Total)

Competitors must complete each obstacle in order before moving on to the next. Course marshals will direct traffic as needed. These marshals will be GCHS JROTC Cadets.

    Obstacle 1: Inverted Wall

Climb the angled wall using the rungs on the overhanging side. Use leg drive for power and arms for pulling to go up and over the top in control.

    Obstacle 2: Balance Beam

Carefully traverse the beam from start to finish, maintaining balance and coordination. Falling requires a remount at the point of dismount.

    Obstacle 3: 10-Foot Wall

Scale the vertical wall using strength, technique, and problem-solving. Pull yourself up and over the top safely before dropping down under control.

    Obstacle 4: Duck Walk

Move forward in a low squat position, testing lower-body strength, mobility, and endurance.

    Obstacle 5: Cleopatra’s Crawl

Navigate the vertical beam structure by climbing and maneuvering over the tall framework, emphasizing grip strength, upper-body control, and coordination.

    Obstacle 6: Bear Crawl

Proceed through the course on hands and feet, simulating crawling over or under terrain. Maintain forward movement and body control throughout.

    Obstacle 7: Tunnel

Enter the low, confined tunnel and move through using an army crawl or similar technique. Focus on steady breathing, controlled movement, and endurance.

    Obstacle 8: Jacob’s Ladder

Climb the tall, angled ladder with wide-spaced rungs. Maintain balance, control, and confidence while ascending and descending.

    Obstacle 9: Pipe Walk

Traverse the horizontal pipes using balance, grip strength, and core stability. Hand-over-hand movement and careful foot placement are essential.

    Obstacle 10: Inclined Wall

Run up the wall using speed and leg drive, pull yourself over the top, and descend efficiently to maintain momentum.

    Obstacle 11: Hip Over

With hands interlocked behind the head, step over each horizontal beam by rotating hips and legs together. Do not touch the beams.

    Obstacle 12: Double Roll-Over

Use explosive strength and momentum to roll your body over the high bars. Techniques such as the “chicken wing” may be used to get your center of gravity over the bar.

    Obstacle 13: Low Crawl

Execute a low or leopard-style crawl, staying flat and close to the ground. Move with opposite arm and leg coordination for speed and control.

    Obstacle 14: Up and Over

Climb over the final log or beam using upper-body strength and leg drive. Pull, kip, or swing as needed to clear the obstacle safely.

    Sprint-Drag-Carry Event (Football Field)

After completing the obstacle course, competitors will proceed directly to the football field to complete the Sprint-Drag-Carry Event.

Lanes are first come, first serve.

The event is conducted in a 25-meter lane and consists of five consecutive segments:

Sprint: 25 meters down and back

Sled Drag: 25 meters down and back dragging a 45-lb sled

Lateral Shuffle: 25 meters down and back, facing the same direction

Kettlebell Carry: 25 meters down and back carrying two 40-lb kettlebells

Final Sprint: 25 meters down and back sprint to finish

Competitors must complete all segments in sequence without skipping any portion.

    Final Run

Upon completion of the Sprint-Drag-Carry event, competitors will immediately begin the final 1-mile run, finishing at the designated end point to officially complete the Ultimate Raider Challenge.
