30th Annual Mosquito Lake Chase 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

Maplewood High School - Mecca, OH

9:00 am-Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, 2026

Proceeds from the Mosquito Lake Chase are dedicated to the Oscar Grant Scholarship Fund and other Maplewood Running Rockets activities. Oscar Grant was a teacher, coach, official, WWII Veteran, and friend of all that met him.

Entry Fee: $22 fee for pre-registered runners, the race day entry fee is $25. Shirts are guaranteed for the first 100 registrants.

Both races start at 9:00 am. Packet pick-up and day-of-race registration will be held at Maplewood High School located just east of Mecca Circle on Route 88. Day-of-race registration begins at 7:30 am.

Prize money awards will be presented in the 5K to the top 3 male and female finishers overall: $75, $50, and $25. Awards will also be presented to the top 3 finishers of the 5K and the first finisher of the mile in each of these age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over, male and female.

    Saturday, June 6 Race Day

    5:45 – 7:00 a.m. Check-in, chip pick-up, and race day packet pick-up at Fireman's Beach. Please note: There is no parking at Fireman's Beach. Refer to the Parking Map for available parking locations.

    All athletes must check in on race day. No day-of registrations will be accepted.

    7:15 a.m. Mandatory pre-race meeting for all triathlon entrants

    7:30 a.m. Race begins

    9:30 a.m. Awards presentation

    TIMING. RESULTS. AWARDS. PRIZES. PREMIUM

    Timing services will be provided. Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places will be given in all individual categories and 1st and 2nd places in relay team categories. The awards presentation will be held immediately following the race at the race site. All CL Tri entrants will receive a custom-designed T-shirt, swim cap, and generous post-race food and beverages. (Note: Entrants after 5/15 are not guaranteed a T-shirt.) Finish times will be posted near the timing area as results become available. Complete race results can be accessed by the next day.

    Join us for an exciting night of racing at The Bell Lap Classic – Track Night in Ashtabula, an open “all-comers” track meet welcoming athletes of all ages and abilities. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or someone who simply wants to experience the thrill of racing on the track, this event is for you.

    Held at Lakeside High School in Ashtabula, the meet features classic sprint and middle-distance events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m and 4X400m Relay, giving participants a chance to test their speed, chase a personal best, or enjoy a fun evening of competition.

    From youth athletes to masters runners, everyone is invited to step onto the track, hear the bell ring for the final lap, and experience the energy of race night.

    Come compete, bring your friends, and be part of a great community track event in Ashtabula!

    $15 Per event.

    • Standard track rules will be followed.

    • Starters pistol will be used to start each race.

    • Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) Finish Lynx photo finish equipment will be used.

    • No awards will be given, just local fame.

    • Starting blocks not permitted.

    • Batons will be provided for the 4x400M Relay

    • Coed relay teams- Women will be the first leg(s) of the relay team followed by the men.

    • Infield (football field) must remain clear the entire meet.

    • After 8:25 PM, warmups must be conducted off the track.

    • Field events are prohibited.

    No dogs. Service animals permitted.
