Date: Sunday, July 19, 2026 from 9AM to 11AM.

  • This is the 19th year for this fun and exciting event.

  • The event is limited to the first 100 registered participants.

  • Participants can enter for fun, fitness, and/or competition.

  • The course begins with 2.24 miles of kayaking on the beautiful and historic Inland Waterway (Burt Lake and the Indian River). The course ends with 11.68 miles of bicycling on the scenic North Central State Trail, which is crushed lime-stone (not recommended for extremely narrow tires).

  • The start is at DeVoe Beach at 9AM. The transition from kayaking to biking is also at DeVoe Beach. The finish-line is near the Chamber of Commerce Building. Refreshments, awards, and prizes are back at DeVoe Beach. The award ceremony begins at 11AM.

  • Check-in begins at 8 AM at DeVoe Public Beach in Indian River.

  • Registration includes free refreshments, free t-shirt and entry into drawings for great prizes.

  • Beautiful wood plaques will be awarded to the top finishers in each age/gender category.

  • All proceeds will go to support our beautiful trails in Northern Michigan.

  • Participants must provide their own bicycle and proper helmet and kayak with paddle, and Coast Guard approved life-jacket.

  • This event is a fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds are donated to maintain quality trails in our local area. $60 until May 31, $70 until June 30, $80 until July 19, $90 on site (space permitting). To ensure you receive an event shirt, register by July 10th.

Bring "anything but a cup" to fill up your drink. Bring your empty cans/glasses/bottles to donate towards Outhouse Consortium, a non-profit organization that is focused on the development and maintenance of trails in the area.     Join us on Saturday, May 9th, 2026 for a unique event celebrating Fort Holmes and Fort Mackinac on Historic Mackinac Island to help support the efforts of Mackinac Historic State Parks! Now in its 9th year, this challenging 5 mile race is for runners and walkers of all ages and is always one to remember! Start inside Fort Mackinac to run or walk through beautiful, paved trails, past historic Island landmarks to Fort Holmes—the highest point of the Island—then travel back on the scenic paved trails to finish at Fort Mackinac!

    All participants will receive FREE ENTRY to Fort Mackinac and other Mackinac Island attractions throughout the day, plus a great shirt and a unique burnt wood medal!

    Traditional 9:00 a.m. mass start inside Fort Mackinac! Packet pick-up will be in the Pavilion, outside Fort Mackinac starting at 7:30AM, to 9:00AM on race day.

    The Fort2Fort Five Mile is part of the Mackinac Island Trio Series! Register and complete either the Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge or the Lilac Festival 10K, and both the Mackinac Island Eight Mile and Great Turtle Trail Run, and you will receive a special Mackinac Island Trio Series medal. This will be a separate medal from the other finisher’s medal and will be awarded following the Great Turtle Half Marathon.

    Join us on Saturday, June 6, 2026, for a great early summer 10K on Mackinac Island and help kick off the 78th Mackinac Island Lilac Festival!

    This race has been a favorite for over 39 years on Mackinac Island - the course encompasses Mackinac Island at it's finest! Starting at Windemere Park, participants travel through our historic downtown, then up the challenging Mission Hill to tree-covered paved roads through the center of the Island. The last three miles follow the shore line with tremendous views of the Mackinac Bridge, finishing at Mackinac Island Public School.

    Lil’ Lilac Kid’s Race! There will be a special event for young children starting at 11:45, at the school. Children will run on the lawn outside the school (either 150 or 300 yards, depending on age and ability), and receive a medal at the finish. Race registration includes a shirt.

    2026 Mackinac Island Trio Series! Register and complete either the Fort2Fort Five Mile Challenge or the Lilac Festival 10K, plus both the Mackinac Island Eight Mile and Great Turtle Trail Run, and you will receive a special Mackinac Island Trio Series medal. This will be a separate medal from the other finisher’s medals you will receive at the completion of your selected three races, and will only be awarded following the Great Turtle Half Marathon. (Note, if you are unable to join us for an “in person” events, you will still be eligible for the Trio medal if you complete the races virtually and record your time).

    The Community Strong Race Weekend team will be hosting our 5th annual fundraising event weekend. This event is designed to raise desperately needed funds and bring awareness to physical and mental health challenges in our community.

    Our event will consist of a variety of races throughout the weekend as well as many family activities including a Boston qualifying marathon, half-marathon, 10km, 5km colour run, and kids run in Sault Ste. Marie on June 20th-21st, 2026. All funds raised will support the AFS Foundation and there mission to support mental health in Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma District.

    Come experience Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, to its fullest during Engineers Day Weekend. Visit the Soo Locks downtown starting at 9am on Friday, June 26th, for a celebration of the engineering feats Sault Sainte Marie has to offer. Later that evening join Yooper Running Company and others at the Ashmun Bay Boat Launch to run/walk a 100% soft surface 5K with views of freighters, the power canal, and the international bridge. The 5K race will begin at 6:00pm. Race Day Bib/Packet Pickup will begin at 4:00pm near the boat launch parking lot area. An early packet pickup will be taking place on Thursday evening from 4-8pm at Birdseye Outfitters. Each participant will receive a medal, post race refreshments, and the chance to win age group awards. A Kokosing Alberici Traylor Engineers Day 5K T-Shirt option is available during online registration for an extra $15. The following day after the race there is an International Bridge Walk that participants are encouraged to go to from Sault

    Course Information

    Ashmun Bay Boat Launch to Ted Caffey Memorial Trail to South Street and Back. 100% soft surface consisting of gravel road and snowmobile trail. Views of Ashmun Bay, Freighters, start of the power canal, international bridge, and shoreline foliage.

    Age Groups and Overall Awards

    Age group awards will be given out to 1st place in the following divisions: 0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

    Overall winner awards will be given to the Top Male and Female, Top Master's (40+), and Top Grandmaster's (60+)

    Finish Line

    Enjoy water, Gatorade, bananas, watermelon, bags of chips, and fruit snacks

    Onsite and online results will be provided by Yooper Running Company. Chip timing via Race Result Duo Transponders will be used for scoring and results with a common start/finish timing mat. A results link will be sent closer to race day so you can view your results at the completion of the results.
