    2026 ITUS Race

WE ARE EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THE IDAHO TRAIL ULTRA SERIES FOR THE 3RD Year! And part of the inaugural year for the Idaho Trail Series! If you sign up for the Last Man Standing race and run at least a 50K your race will be counted as one of the 4 needed for the year-end ITUS jacket. Although you can run as far as you want, only the 50K distance will count towards ITUS points. If you run the full 3 Loop Challenge it will be counted as one of the 4 needed for the ITS Jacket. Check the ITUS website for more information on races, points and jacket requirements. https://runsignup.com/Race/ID/Boise/ITUS

    The Event

You can run 4.167 miles in an hour right? How many times in a row can you do that? If you can do it more times than anyone else you win!! If not, you lose. Simple as that. This is a race of attrition. It's not about speed, or who can run the fastest. This race is about grit and who can last the longest. But, if you just want to get your feet wet and do 3 loops, we've got that option too. All racers will receive schwag (if signed up by Sept 1st), but the winner will receive an even more awesome weight belt. Here's the details. All runners must be in the starting corral when the bell rings at 8AM sharp. If you're not in the starting corral when the bell rings, you will receive a DNS. There will be a 3, 2, 1 countdown each loop. You have an hour to run/hike the 4.167 mile loop. The bell will ring at the top of the hour on the hour until there's no one left. After every loop you can sit and rest, eat, take a quick nap, whatever you choose, but you must be IN the starting corral when the bell goes off or you receive a DNF. We'll keep doing this until there's no one left to start. The race doesn't end until only one racer shows up to start. The winner must complete one more loop than every one else to win. There's no age group winners and no overalls. If you're not first you're last!

    The Big Event

Be in the starting corral at 8AM sharp. Finish the loop within an hour and then make sure you're back in the starting corral every hour on the hour until you're legs just won't run anymore.

    3 Loop Challenge

Just want to see what its like to run a backyard event and also have the ability to count as 1 of your 4 races for the ITS (Idaho Trail Series)? You can sign up for the 3 loop challenge. Overall fastest times win. One male winner and one female winner. Be in the starting corral at 8AM sharp. You can run 2 loops if you don't want to run 3 and aren't trying to earn your ITS Jacket. However, to qualify for the ITS Series, you must complete 3 Loops.

The 8th annual Aaron Butler Memorial Purple Heart Run (ABMPHR) will be held on Saturday, August 15th, 2026 at Eagle Island State Park and surrounding trail system. Eagle Island has done some renovations, and it is looking NICE!

Sign up, show up, and embrace the suck in the 5K, 10K, or signature Unknown Distance Run (we guarantee no less than 400M and no more than 50K, YOU WILL NOT KNOW the final distance until you finish.) We take great pride in delivering an awesome trail running experience, but this isn't a Boston Qualifier, there is no chip-timing, and no one cares if you walk the course. This event is about community and sacrifice, the routes are lined with pictures and stories of our brothers and sisters who gave their lives in the service of our Nation. Aaron's name is on the event, but our event honors ALL of the Fallen. Don't forget about our 16-and-under Youth 5K, we care deeply about youth leadership development and believe that it begins with exposure to service and sacrifice.

It's more than a run, it's an emotional and educational experience.

No posers, no egos. If you're down to clown with authentic veterans, first-responders, and patriots who celebrate the lives and legacies of those who gave all, this event is for you. Registration gets you access to the run, music, food, guest speakers, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, sweet raffle and auction items, and lots to do for kids. We sweat, we laugh, we cry (just to water our beards), and we support each other. Join us.

*NOTE: If you do not have a Idaho State Parks Pass, entry into the park will cost $7. We recommend car pooling with someone who has a parks pass. Or, BEFORE RACE DAY, please consider purchasing an annual parks pass for $10 here https://parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/idaho-state-parks-passport/ to get into all State Parks for a year.
