The Wurst Kilometer was dreamed up after one too many at Meantime in Detroit. It’s one brat, one mliko and one highly questionable kilometer. Its the kind of thing that shouldn’t exist but now that it does, you know you want to try it. Just like its daddy race, all proceeds after cost will be donated to Rebel Dogs Detroit. Unlike its daddy, there are no laps involved. You know you want to give it a shot. Also, it is the wurst kilometer, so it’s happening mid-afternoon in August.

Registration includes a race day tank and sticker, brat and mliko.

    Spring Thaw 2026 will take place on Sunday, April 12th at Running Factory Wyandotte on a closed road course along Riverside Drive!

    Participants have their choice of a 5km Run/Walk and Kid's Race options of 1km and 200m Dash.

    Running strollers permitted

    Race packet pickup will take place April 9th-April 11th from the Running Factory Wyandotte St. E location (only).

    We encourage everyone to post pictures of their journey and share with the community to celebrate!

    Thank you for your participation and support in 2025. We are looking forward to a great year of racing and fundraising for great local charities in 2026.

We invite you to join us for the celebration at Corktown’s Roosevelt Park and the iconic Michigan Central Station. There’s something for everyone! The new 5K run will take you from Roosevelt Park through Southwest Detroit, a jaunt through Ralph C. Wilson Park, returning to Michigan Central Station on the Southwest Detroit Greenway – and you can register your dog to run with you!
