Come run or walk with us and show your support for South Johnston High School’s Student Government Association (SGA) and Exceptional Children (E/C) Department. Help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 to support student programs at South Johnston High School.

This is a family-friendly event, and all skill levels are welcome. Runners will depart first, with walkers following. The 5K will start and end at South Johnston High School.

All participants will receive a white t-shirt to wear during the race and show off their color powder.

Thank you in advance for your support. We truly appreciate your help in making a positive impact on our students and school community.

Registration:

$10 for South Johnston students and staff by February 28th

$15 for anyone signing up by February 28th

$20 for anyone March 1st through race day

    The 50th Annual Boys & Girls Club Selma Railroad Run 5K is Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at 8:30am. This 5K road course is a flat and fast USATF certified course.

    The 5K registration fee is $25 per person as an early bird deal until 8/20/26. Fee is $35 after 8/20/26. An awesome short-sleeve Railroad Run race t-shirt is included FREE with registration, but we can only guarantee a size for those registered before 8/31/26.

    All participants have the option to be timed with a race bib, but recreational non-timed participants are very welcome and will have a great time. Only timed participants will receive an official record of their finish time. DOGS ARE WELCOME - must be kept on a leash at all times. And don't forget about the Caboose Run: at approx. 8:45am we will host a 1/2 Mile Kids Caboose Run from the starting line just after the registered runners take off - no need to register for that particular event.

    Awards will be given to the top runners in age and gender categories, plus overall male and female winners. Categories are ages 6-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+.

    More information about shirt and race packet pickup will be sent before the race.

    Corporate Team and Group Team options are encouraged and available.

    This will be the sixth running of the “I Thought Turkeys Could Fly” 5k. The proceeds this year will benefit the DUMA Food Bank. The USATF certified course will begin and end on North General Lee Ave by Tyler Park in Dunn, NC. The course is flat and fast with only 56 ft of elevation change and a downhill finish. The race is scheduled for Saturday November 8, 2025. The race will start at 8:00 a.m. and will be chip timed. Medals will be presented to the top 3 overall female and male. Age group medals will be given to females and males based on USAT&F 10 year groupings: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and up.

    This race will be the third of a Harnett County series, partnered with races in Erwin and Coats. Sign up for all three using the "Bundle" option and save some money! Bundle registration will only be offered until 4/30/25 when the registration for the first race closes.

    Get ready to lace up for a festive, family-friendly celebration of fitness and giving! The Gobble Waddle features a timed run and a fun walk designed for all ages and activity levels. Whether you're racing for a personal best or strolling with loved ones, strollers and leashed dogs are absolutely welcome!

    Dog Guidelines: All canine participants must be friendly and kept on a fixed leash at all times. Please help keep the course clean by picking up after your pets.

    Give Back This Thanksgiving: In the spirit of the season, we encourage all participants to bring at least five canned food items to donate. Contributions can be dropped off at the event or at HealthQuest in advance. Donations will support local food bank agencies and the SECU Hospice House, helping neighbors in need right here in our community.
