    Race Overview The Glacier Ridge Ultramarathons and Trail Race (GRT) is growing into a full race series as we head into our second year. Pain in Moraine returns September 11–12 at Moraine State Park’s South Shore, bringing back the 24-hour, 10K loop challenge for another round. Get ready to see how many laps you can stack up in year two! The route will hit the Pleasant Valley, Hilltop, and Sunken Garden trails. Each loop is an almost perfect 10k (6.2 miles) with approximately 723' of vertical gain.Competitors can arrive at any point during the event to log their loops. If runners wish to log some loops, leave the event, and return at a later time to do more, then please communicate your intentions to the RD. New to 2026, Miles of Smiles will track participants. There is plenty of room near the start finish to setup a "base camp". Tents and canopies are permitted and should be tethered appropriately.CAMP FIRES are not permitted. There will be a couple propane heaters near the main tent

    overnight. ALCOHOL is not permitted as this event takes place within a state park.The main tent will have a fully stocked aide station. Hot food will be available (toasted cheese, cheese quesadilla, ramen noodles, hot dogs, pizza). A mini aid station will be set up at the halfway point, stocked with water and Gatorade and available to runners throughout the entire event.     as many loops as you want with your runner. Runner Swag & Awards Registrations, prior to 8/23/2026, will receive a pair of 3" wool socks in their race packet and a Techno Lite Vest. Awards go to the male and female that complete the most loops within the 24 hour period. Tie breakers will be determined by the last loop time. Additional awards will be given for competitors achieving ultra distances based on loop count. (5+ loops) Age limitations All runners, under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No exceptions Crew This is a loop challenge. Crews can offer assistance to their runner(s) at the start/finish and at the 3.5 mile water station. Parking is limited at the water station.     The 52nd annual Youngstown Peace Race takes place on Sunday, October 18th, 2026. The event includes a 400-Meter Kids Fun Run (Ages 10 & Under), 2-Mile Run/Walk, & 11K. A virtual option is also available.

    Please be aware that due to construction in the park, the 10K will move to an 11K distance this year.

    • The 25K begins at 8:30am.

    • The Kids Fun Run begins at 9:00am and starts west of the Federal Plaza & Wick Ave intersection in Downtown Youngstown.

    • The 2-Mile begins at 9:30am from the square in Downtown Youngstown.

    • The 11K begins at 10:00am and the start line drop off area is located at Kirkmere Elementary School. 11K Runners must pick up packets before going to Kirkmere. The 11K will follow a fast point-to-point course starting from the Kirk Rd. & S. Schenley Ave. intersection, winding through scenic Mill Creek Park.

    • All races finish at the monument at the intersection of Federal Plaza & Wick Ave. under the finish line banner.
