5k Aquabike Aquathlon Cycling Duathlon Run Swim Triathlon

JOIN US FOR ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SPRINT TRIATHLONS IN THE INTERMOUNTAIN WEST!

The BENGAL TRIATHLON is a perfect event for beginners or seasoned racers! The Triathlon consists of a 700-yard pool swim (14 laps or 28 lengths in a 25-yard pool), a 13-mile bike, and a 5K (3.2 mile) run. We also offer Duathlon option (bike + run only) and Aquabike (swim + bike only) options, and a 5K run option. We have also added an Aquathlon option for kids (if you're an adult, we won't turn you away ... but we wanted to offer a safe race alternative for kids under 14).

Our triathlon is a bit different: we conduct the swim portion before the bike and run... and use the swim times to seed the racers' sendoff into T1 (time trial start). We've been doing this for 15+ years... so we have it pretty dialed in. It works GREAT, and it's a perfect race to start your race season. Last year, we had nearly 500 participants... so to accommodate the numbers, we have swim locations spread throughout Idaho. All swims will take place during the week of the race (swim days/times vary by location), but our Pocatello site (swim is on Friday) is the most popular. Triathletes will share the bike and run course with duathletes and 5K runners on Saturday morning (race day).

We have Individual and Relay Team options available for both the triathlon and duathlon races!

This is one of the best-managed races you'll find... with clearly marked bike and run courses and a ridiculous number of volunteers on the course to keep you safe!

This event is managed as a capstone activity for sport management majors at Idaho State University. Your race director is a USA Triathlon Certified Race Director. We focus first on safety... but we also ensure you have a GREAT experience! Did I mention all the race swag?!!! Hoodies, custom finisher medals and more!!!

We are sorry but we are UNABLE TO OFFER REFUNDS. You are, however, able to transfer your registration to a friend for no additional cost (you can do this yourself on the Active.com site up to three (3) weeks prior to the event. We are unable to guarantee sweatshirts/t-shirts to those who register after the priority deadline - but we will do our very best!

We understand there is a tremendous interest for kids to do this race. Be advised we have STRICT RULES about this, as required by our permits and university. Our course is open to traffic. If you're thinking about registering your kiddo, please make sure they are physically ready for an adult-sized event (we do not offer shorter distance options)! Even then, kids under 14 years old MUST be supervised by a parent/guardian throughout the entire race, including that adult following the child the entire portion of the bike course. This is for THEIR SAFETY and OURS! We added an Aquathlon option in 2026... so please consider having your kiddos do that instead of putting them out there on the bike course. Thank you for understanding! Also, be advised we do not offer "kids sizes" on race apparel.

Event details and schedule

The POCATELLO swim takes place on Friday (12pm to 8pm - ISU Reed Gym pool) and the bike + run will go on Saturday. Swim times seed the bike+run start. We also offer satellite swim locations in Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, Lava Hot Springs, Rexburg, and Boise (days/times the week of the race and will be announced at least two weeks prior to event). Participants who choose one of these locations may incur a separate pool fee (paid directly to facility on day of swim). Everyone is welcome in Pocatello - and your race fee covers that cost. Smitty (your awesome race director) will send out LOTS OF INFORMATION, including a race guide about three weeks prior to the event. Lots of information is also posted regularly on our Facebook page. Course maps and more race information available on our BENGAL TRIATHLON WEBSITE.

Scout Mountain Ultras is an exciting and challenging weekend of trail running. We offer four distances: 23 miles, 50km, 50 miles and 100 miles. The routes are beautiful, difficult and guaranteed to provide a challenge to all participants. At times we have joked that we are an environmental event with a running problem as we do focus on reducing our impact, reducing our waste and raising the environmental literacy of our participants.

The event serves as an opportunity to gather together and celebrate months and years of the practice of running as we challenge our bodies, minds and spirits on the trail. We offer a variety of distances to satisfy the curiosity of all, from the beginning trail runner to the experienced veteran. At times, we have joked that we are an environmental event with a running problem. We strive to elevate the environmental literacy of the trail running community through various initiatives including but not limited to reduction the event’s environmental footprint, interfacing grassroots environmental and conservation groups with our participants, meaningful donations of race proceeds to conservation and environmental efforts and re-thinking the items offered to runners in ways that limit waste.

Trail running takes away many of the restrictions or rules about how we should run or how we should look. We can spend hours wandering through stands of pines and aspens, taking in a symphony of color as we pass wildflowers, avoiding the pressure to be something we aren’t. We can be ourselves and be happy. We all deserve this same opportunity, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, social class, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification, ability, or age. We are committed to creating space at Scout Mountain Ultras and have committed to at least fifty percent of the field at each of our events will be held for women, femme and non-binary folks. We will not tolerate harassment of any kind in our race or online spaces. These trails have been a doorway to another world, and as the race directors, we will do everything we can to keep those doors open for everyone behind us. All are welcome here.
