Join us to honor longtime Coach Merrill Morgan

Join the Seashore Striders for the 4th 5k Run & a 1 mile walk as we honor longtime Colonel Richardson High School Coach Merrill Morgan. The former boys’ head basketball coach, Morgan, had 505 career victories, earned 485 of those over his 38 seasons at Colonel. He led Colonel to the state finals in 1976, and reached the state semifinals in 1973, 1976, 1990 and 1995. In the fall of 1967 to joined Caroline County's Colonel Richardson High School where he served as a guidance counselor from 1967-2004; varsity boy's basketball coach from 1967-2005; and assistant girl's track coach in the 1970s. He excelled in all positions, as he encouraged and assisted both athletes and non-athletes, boys and girls, to be the best they could be. He said he wanted to be remembered for "always being fair."

RACE DATE: Saturday, April 18, 2026

RACE TIME: 9 am start

RACE LOCATION: Colonel Richardson High School, 25320 Richardson Rd, Federalsburg, MD 21632

RACE DAY PICKUP: Pick up your Race Bib & T-Shirt from 8 am - 8:50 am at the start on race morning

5K RACE ENTRY FEE:

  • $25 "EARLY BIRD" registration (till APRIL 12th at midnight)

  • $30 "RACE WEEK" registration (till APRIL 17th at midnight)

  • $35 "RACE DAY" registration from 8-8:50 at CRHS at the Race Location

1 MILE FUN WALK ENTRY FEE:

  • $20 "EARLY BIRD" registration (till APRIL 12th at midnight)

  • $25 "RACE WEEK" registration (till APRIL 17th at midnight)

  • $30 "RACE DAY" registration from 8-8:50 at CRHS at the Race Location

STUDENT FEE 5K or 1 MILE FUN WALK ENTRY FEE: (Must be a current MS or HS Student)

  • $20 Registration (till APRIL 17th at midnight)

  • RACE DAY will be the Normal fee of $35

  • No Student Discount on Race-Day

RACE COURSE:. A loop 5k course on the country roads of Federalsburg, MD

RACE TIMING: Seashore Strider Event Production will chip time the event using the Chronotrack chip timing system.

RACE AMENITIES: Long sleeve race shirts, medals to age group winners and light refreshments which includes "Coaches Favorites"

AWARDS: Overall male and female, Masters, plus top 3 in 10 year age groups 13 under to 70 over. Top 3 male & female walkers will receive medals

    This family-friendly event welcomes walkers, runners, and supporters of all ages and fitness levels. In addition to the 5K Walk & Run, we will host an on-site Blood Drive, recognizing the critical role blood donations play in the treatment and survival of individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease. Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to give the gift of life by donating blood during the event.

    We will also feature a “Be The Match” Bone Marrow Registry Campaign, offering attendees the chance to learn about bone marrow donation and potentially become a lifesaving match for someone in need.

    All proceeds will support Sickle Cell research, education, and programs that improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by this disease. Together, through awareness, action, and service, we can save lives and bring hope to our community.

    Run for a purpose! Proceeds of MWWWF events go to those affected by environmental disaster. Our mission is to promote awareness of the critical ecological challenges we face along with the positive programs going on to protect our natural environment. Over 250,000 homes were destroyed or impacted by hurricanes Helena & Milton the biggest hurricane disaster since Katrina. Communities are still recovering! The proceeds of this event go to the Samaritan Purse & the Lumbee Tribe in NC.

    Post Party: Run, walk, and celebrate! Enjoy stunning Chesapeake Bay views on the Terrapin / Cross Island Trail, then head to the Kent Island Yacht Club for our after-party (1.3 miles) featuring live music by the McFadden Garcia Trio and an inspiring guest speaker, raffles & prizes.

    Packet Pickup: 9:00 am pickup packets and registration at Terrapin Nature Park setup near restrooms. T-Shirts for the first 50 registrants.
