    Race Details:

    Come join us for one of the oldest races in Southeast Missouri. The Dogwood - Azalea Run was first ran in 1979 and the tradition continues today! The race takes place during Charleston’s Annual Dogwood Azalea Festival. It starts and finishes at Rolwing Park while the Festival is taking place. This is a flat, fast, and beautiful course that is perfect for the 1st time runner and is equally as great for the seasoned runner. There will be spectators along the entire route cheering for you all the way to the finish line!

    We currently offer 3 races

    • Toddler Run - $5. This run is one block. (Race day registration only)

    • Youth Run - $5. This run is approximately 1/3 mile. (Race Day Registration only)

    • 5k Run - Preregister Online

    • $30 thru March 30th. Guaranteed Race shirt included

    • $30 After March 30th thru April 17th - First come first serve on race shirts

    • $35 race day registration in person

    Registration Location, Start & Finish Line

    Packet pick-up and Race Day Registration will be at the Scout Cabin at Rolwing Park on the corner of E. Cypress St and Stark St. Both the Start and Finish Line are near the Scout Cabin

    Pre-registration

    Online and mail-in Pre-registration is $30. High quality t-shirts guaranteed if registered by March 30. Online registration is open through April 17th. Race day Registration in $35

    Race Day Registration

    • Race Day registration opens at roughly Noon at the Scout Cabin.

    • Toddler and Youth Races - $5.00. They are both Race Day registration only. All finishers will receive an award

    • 5k Race is $35. Race shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis

    • We will be accepting cash and check only. NO Debit or Credit Cards please

    • 12:00 pm - Packet Pickup at Scout Cabin Begins

    • 12:00 pm - Race day registration for 5k and Toddler/Youth runs open

    • 1:30 pm - Race day registration for all races close

    • 1:50 pm - Toddler & Youth Races start

    • 3:00 pm - Awards Ceremony

    RACE COURSE

    The 5k Race takes place on USATF Certified Course MO20001DG. This is an extremely well marked course! There will be police officers stationed at many of the intersections. There will also be coned off lanes for runners along many streets.

    You will start on E Cypress St near the Scout Cabin. Run west to Main St. Head North on Main St and then back East on Byrd Avenue. Follow Byrd Avenue until it turns South into S Virginia. Follow S Virginia to E. Commercial St. On E Commercial run East to 13th Street. Head North on 13th and then an immediate turn (East) onto Warde Rd. At the end of Warde turn South onto S Gilmore St. After a couple blocks on S Gilmore turn back West onto E Cypress and follow to the finish line.

    WATER STATION AND RESTROOMS:

    There will be a water stop approximately 1.75 miles into the race near the corner of E Commercial St and N. Virginia St. There are restrooms available at the park.

The course highlights many landmarks in Cape Girardeau including the Bill Emerson Bridge, Common Pleas Courthouse, Old St. Vincent's Church and more, as well as finishing at the riverfront, conveniently at Century Casino. The course is relatively flat utilizing roadways and paved trails. We hope you will spend the evening in Cape and celebrate your accomplishment. Proceeds benefit local non-profits who work to improve the health and well-being of those living in the region. Thanks to our sponsors and participants, we have been able to give over $100,000 to local non-profits since the Muddy River Marathon's inception. In our sixth year we plan to continue expanding the beneficiaries around Southeast Missouri.

    Join the Cape Girardeau Road Runners for our SIXTH annual fast and flat USATF CERTIFIED 1-mile race! If you've been curious about running, a one-mile race is a great place to start! Bring the family and begin your adventure into running. Seasoned runner? You will love this fast and flat course to find out how fast you can run a 1-mile road race AND the opportunity to set a new Missouri State Record! Register TODAY to be assured your best Wave start!

    The entire race will be held within Arena Park. Event will be timed and runners will start in waves, based on estimated finish time. Awards presented to Overall Male & Female. Overall Masters Male & Female, and 1st - 3rd place in 10 year age groups.

    No pets, except service animals, may participate in this event.

    When registering a child 14 and under, the special pricing will be displayed when you are at the checkout.

    SHIRTS- In an effort to keep our registration price low, shirts are an optional add-on during registration. You must register by May 20 to order a shirt; there will be NO post-race orders. Only shirts ordered by May 20 will be available.

    Awards! There will be Male & Female Overall, Masters Male & Female Overall, and age division awards. Age groups are divided male and female, 0-7, 8-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

    Funds raised at this event will aid the Cape Girardeau Road Runner’s efforts to continue to support area youth running programs, as well as the adult running community.

    Race day registration will close at 7:30a.m. Register early to be assured your proper wave!

    CANCELLATION POLICY The safety of our participants is our highest priority. Races will be held rain, snow, or shine and will not be cancelled except for cases of severe weather or unsafe road/trail conditions. Less threatening conditions may cause alterations of the course or post event activities to ensure participant, volunteer, and community safety. We are a nonprofit organization and all net proceeds are used to further the Cape Girardeau Road Runner's mission in the community. As such, no refunds or credits will be given in the case of cancellation due to weather. Shirts ordered will still be distributed.

    Grab your friends and family and join us for the Zonta 5K, 10K or One Mile Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, June 13th by the 4H Building in Arena Park. The 10K will start at 7:30 am and the 1 Mile and 5K will start at 8 am. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau’s service projects that advance the status of women and girls worldwide. *The event will be chip timed!

    Online registration will close Thursday, June 11 at 11:59 p.m. After this, 10K registration will be available onsite from 6:45-7:15 a.m. on race day. The 1 Mile and 5K registration will be available from 6:45 - 7:45 am on race day. Those registered by May 25 are guaranteed an awesome t-shirt!

    Packet Pick Up will be Friday, June 12 from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Fitness Plus; 150 South Mt. Auburn Road; Entrance #8 or on race day starting at 6:45 a.m. at Arena Park - 4H Building.

    Awards will be announced around 9:00 a.m. One Mile Fun Run/Walk participants will not be timed. Awards will be given to the overall male and female as well as the top three in each age category, for the 5K and 10K.
