& Trail
18 April 2026
The Fireco Northland Tri on Saturday 18 April 2026 features 3 different courses for the adult’s event and includes options for teams. This event also accommodates our tamariki with a kids course for ages 4 – 15 .
The start, finish and transition areas are all based at the stunning Pine Beach, also know as Kai Iwi Lakes. There is camping available so you can really make a weekend of it.
The course starts with the swim taking place at the main lake where the translucent water is not only an inviting beginning but a refreshing start to the event. Both the cycle and run courses include some significant hills, with the run being majority off road. With each transition occurring at one base the event makes for a fun atmosphere where spectators feel involved the whole way through.
Northland Tri introduces the Battle of the North Tri Club edition!
This year we will see the inaugural Battle of the North commence and triathlon clubs from the upper north island fight it out for the Kauri shield. Both participation and podium points are on offer with the winning club taking home the Shield and other numerous prizes.
For more information on this please see Battle of the North tab.
We’re excited to introduce the Trail Run to the Fireco Northland Tri! A brand-new option for anyone who wants to be part of the event without taking on the swim or bike.
This run is designed for all runners, whether you’re a regular trail enthusiast or just looking for a fun challenge in a stunning location. You do not need to be entered in the triathlon to take part, the Trail Run stands on its own as an awesome experience.
With amazing scenery and a course that highlights some of Northland’s best natural features, this new race adds another way to get involved in an already iconic event. It’s a chance to enjoy the atmosphere, be part of the energy, and experience the beauty of the area from a whole new angle.
Our trail run offers something for everyone, with three exciting distance options to suit all fitness levels and goals. Take on the challenge of the 14km course for a rewarding and scenic adventure, or opt for the 8.5km distance for a shorter but equally enjoyable trail experience.
For those who prefer a team approach, our fun and fast-paced team relay is a great way to get involved, covering a total of 4km made up of 1km laps, teams of 2, 3, or 4 can share the course, with each member completing 1km laps.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just out to enjoy the atmosphere, there’s a distance for everyone to get amongst it!
