  • 5th annual Celebrate a Nurse 5K 1M Run/Walk on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the Madison College-Reedsburg Campus. Both the 1-mile and 5K races both start at 9:30 a.m.

  • Proceeds benefit a scholarship for Madison College – Reedsburg nursing students.

  • Encourage everyone to participate.

  • Only runners participating in the 5K event will be timed. Awards will be presented immediately following the race. Awards will be given to the top 1st-3rd place male and females finishing in each age division.

*The 5K route may also be walked

*Virtual 5K are ineligible for top 3 finisher awards

*Virtual 5K participants within Sauk County can pick up at Reedsburg Campus, otherwise shirt will be shipped.

*In person sign-up is eligible for transfer to virtual race, if unable to attend

5K age divisions are:

  • 17 & under

  • 18-29

  • 30-39

  • 40-49

  • 50 & over

  • Team entries no additional charge. Example of teams: Alumni Nurses graduation class, Nursing Departments, Healthcare Organizations, Memorial team, and family teams. Be creative with your team attire – prize to be given to the most creative team. No size limit for a team.

  • Award for most creative team overall.

Starting with a kids 1/4 mile race at 7:55am and the 5k to follow right after at 8am. Runners will receive race bibs and there will be a running timer for times. Walkers will be un-timed.

    This will be a multi surface race. Including paved road, sidewalk & gravel 400 trail.

    At 8:00 we'll get the 10k-ers moving with an out and back style run on the bike trail. THIS IS NEW so please park at 200 Eagle St Reedsburg, WI 53959 (Lakeside Foods).

    The 2-mile fun run/walk route is down and out as well. We'll get runners on their way shortly after the path clears from the 10k crew.

    The Butter Run is just one of the many fantastic events running in conjunction with Butterfest. Any money we make is put back into making Butterfest even better next year!

    Results will be posted online shortly after the race concludes.

    This fun trail run includes a Mini Marshmallow 1-mile kids run age 11 & under, 5K run & walk and 10K trail and a half marathon run along the park's scenic trails. There will be chip-timing for the 5K run,10K run & Half Marathon race with the help of Tortoise and Hare Race Management timing company.

    The Half Marathon event will have a cut-off time of 3:30 hours for timing purpose. The event staff and volunteers will still be there for you from start to finish, but timing will not be provided if you finish after 3:30 hours.

    The goal of this event is to introduce people to the state park and to raise funds to support ongoing and future Friends' projects at the park. You will run along scenic Mirror Lake, near sandstone cliffs, up and down steep hills (did we mention the hills?) and to the finish line where you can enjoy post-race food and beverages including s'mores around a campfire, making for a truly unique running experience!

    The Friends of Mirror Lake State Park is a non-profit that is organized for the charitable and educational purpose of supporting and assisting Mirror Lake State Park. Some of the many projects that the Friends group helps with include the naturalist program, concerts in the park and candlelight ski and hike events. Future projects also include trail maintenance and development and accessibility improvements throughout the park. Funds raised during the fun run will stay at Mirror Lake State Park and help with these projects.

    Please register online by September 27. Max of 450 registrants' total. There will be No same day registration.
