Yough Band on the Run 5k

Join us for the annual Greensburg YMCA indoor triathlon!

Individual registration cost is $40. The event requirements include a 16-length (400 yards) indoor pool swim, a 9-mile indoor stationary bike ride, and a 2-mile run on a treadmill.

1st heat will begin at 8:30 am. Same day registration will open at 7:00 am and will close at 8:00 am.

THE MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE IS 15 YEARS OLD.

The Indoor Triathlon is based on time taken to complete the designated distance - meaning how fast over a fixed distance.

Swim: 400 yards in the pool (16 lengths), 15-minute cap

Transition 1: 5-minutes (move from the pool to cycle studio)

Bike: 9 miles on an indoor bike, 30-minute cap

Transition 2: 5-minutes (move from the cycle studio to treadmills)

Run: 2 miles on an indoor treadmill, 30-minute cap

Results: will be measured by the time taken to complete each event, totaled into one final time. All three event times are added to calculate your final score. Therefore, your rank and time will not be determined until all participants have completed the event.

Those registered by March 27th, will be guaranteed a shirt. Registrations after the 27th, are first come, first served.

Race day individual registration will be $55.

Awards will be given to the top male and female overall, and 1st place in age group categories.

Run historic 8th Avenue and join the post-race party with Golden Age Beer and Millie's Homemade Ice Cream in Homestead! Steel Valley Strides is proudly presented by First National Bank with Steel Valley Accelerator and GCXC Race Timing and Management.

With options for a flat, fast 5k (no, really this time!) or the untimed family 1 mile, this race has something for everyone. Stick around after for age group awards for the 5k and free ice cream for participants!

START TIME: 8:30am

The event includes a 1/2 Marathon run and a 5K run/walk. The 5K also provides an opportunity for families and people with pets to participate. Both are held on the Yough River Trail of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) which provides a flat, fast, crushed limestone surface. Medals are given in both races. Please note that medals not claimed on race day will be discarded.

Pacers from Marathon Pacing will participate in the 1/2 Marathon.

The Mon Yough Trail Council (MYTC) hosts this race. It raises necessary funds for trail maintenance and upkeep throughout the year. The MYTC is one of a network of all-volunteer trail councils that exist along the GAP specifically to keep the trail open and accessible for all.

Burn Boot Camp Murrysville is proud to partner with the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the Burn Murrysville “Be Their Muscle” 5k event. All proceeds go directly to the MDA.

The MDA is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. For over 70 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating for the support of our families. MDA’s mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives. Funds raised during the Burn Murrysville MDA 5k event will be used for:

• Research: accelerate the discovery of therapies and cures – MDA’s research they have supported is directly linked to approved, life-changing therapies across multiple neuromuscular diseases. There have been 15 FDA approved treatments for neuromuscular diseases in just the past 7 years.

• Care: MDA funds the largest network of multidisciplinary clinics providing best in class care at more than 150 of the nation’s top medical institutions; produces educational events and conferences for medical professionals and families; provides one on one support through our resource center.

• Advocacy: Access to care and therapies from day one (newborn screening); Accelerating therapeutic development; Empowerment and Independence (access to education, employment, travel).

• Summer Camp: MDA provides transformative life-changing camp experiences to thousands of children and young adults ages 8-17. Kids learn vital life skills, make life-long friendships, gain independence and confidence – at no cost to families.

For over seven decades, MDA has paved the way for breakthroughs in science and care and access for families and the disability community and continues to lead the way in innovative fundraising to support the mission.

8:00a.m.—Registration and check-in begins at Roll R Way Skating Center located at 590 Galiffa Drive, Donora, PA. Entry Fee is $20.00: Pre-Registration deadline is April 10, 2026. Late Registration up until 10 minutes prior to race is $25.00. All participants pre-registered by April 10, 2026 will be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Awards Ceremony & 125th Birthday Celebration:

Immediately following the race a luncheon, distribution of awards and celebration for Donora's 125th anniversary will take place at the Donora Borough Hall located at 603 Meldon Avenue.

Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male/female runners and walkers in these age groups:

Runners/Walkers: 0-10, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29,

30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+.
