JALC Tri-Festa Triathlon

This is a River to River Runners Club Championship Series event!

The 10k run is set for 7:30am on Saturday, April 11 at the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.

The Micro Marathon will start at 9:30 am, and the PeeWee Marathon will start at 10:30 am.

Check-in and race day registration begins at 6:30am.

All courses start and end at the new refuge headquarters located on Headquarters Road, just West of Rt 148.

The courses are flat with a few small, gently rolling hills.

All race participants registered by March 29th are guaranteed a T-shirt. There are also prizes for the top three male and female runners in each five-year age group, as well as the overall winner.

There will be special awards for participants who participate in all three events.

Light refreshments will be provided.

At Herrin, IL Sports Complex located on Bandyville Road

Registration/Check-In: 6:00 am - 7:00 am

Race hours: 7:00 am - 1:00 pm

The start/finish will be located on the south side of the complex

Loop course is relatively flat, paved pedestrian trail 1.3-miles long

Runners completing the most loops in six hours will earn awards.

Awards will be given to the top three overall and to the top three in the following age groups for both genders:

19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over

All participants will receive a Hearts Desire t-shirt

Drinks, soup, and snacks will be available at the HQ tent near the start

The Herrinfesta Road Races has a long history of families and friends coming together on Memorial Day to have fun, to suffer in the heat for a few miles. If you have never ran it before then you should come join us for a really fun time. With one of the fastest courses around, runners can come to Herrin and shoot for a new PR. This is a family friendly event with a few race options. The 10k run, the 5K walk, the Park Avenue Mile, and the kids mile. Ambitious runners can even sign up for both the 10k and the mile.

Race start and finish behind the Carterville Community Center

Join us for the first Sundown Showdown. Race start and finish behind the Carterville Community Center. This event resembles a high school-style cross country meet, using standard scoring and a 5K course. This is a team event, with 3-5 runners per team. (3 scoring runners per team) If you don't have a team or enough people to make an entire team, we will help you on race day to put a team together. You can run the race solo, if you prefer. You can expect mostly grass with a little gravel and paved path in the mix.

Awards for the top 20 female and male runners as well as top team in each division (Male, Female, and Mixed).

Team scores are calculated by adding up the finishing positions of the top five runners on each team. Each runner earns points based on their finishing place (1 point for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, and so on). The total points for the team's top three runners are summed, and the team with the lowest total score wins.

Race Markings

Race will be marked with the following paint

Mile 1 - Red

Mile 2 - White

Mile 3 - Blue

There will be a lead vehicle to guide the runners through the course.
