Whakatane Bush Half Marathon 2026

The team behind the legendary Toi’s Challenge is back – and we are proud to present the Whakatāne Bush Half Marathon, 10k and 5k. The 3rd Annual event will take place on Saturday 18 July, 2026.

Starting from the peaceful shores of Ōhope, where the sand meets the sea in perfect harmony, this event offers more than just a run – it’s a true adventure. Expect breathtaking views, varied terrain, and that unbeatable feeling of achievement.

The course will take you through:

• Native bush tracks

• Meandering gravel roads

• Smooth sealed stretches

All set against the stunning backdrop of Whakatāne and Ōhope.

Whether you’re an experienced runner chasing a personal best, or giving it a go for the first time, there’s something for everyone.

This year, every participant who crosses the finish line will receive a finishers' medal, no matter the distance – half marathon, 10km, or 5km.
