The Lake Chabot Trail Run (Nov) is a 7.72k, 30k, 50k, half marathon, marathon, running, and trail running event held on Saturday, November 7, 2026. It is located at Lake Chabot Road in Castro Valley, California.
Rising up from the depths of Lake Chabot, the Bad Bass (a strangely kilt-wearing, bagpipe-playing Scottish bass with teeth) shows itself once again on July 18th 2026! Why is he Scottish? What is he doing in Castro Valley? How can he play bagpipes with his fin? We have no idea how to answer those questions. Why is he so bad-to-the-fishbone? Maybe he just knows how awesome the trails of Lake Chabot really are!
Whatever the Bad Bass is doing here, we hope you'll join us at the beautiful Lake Chabot Marina in Castro Valley for the scenic Bad Bass 5K, 10K or Half Marathon!
The course starts at the Marina and travels around the popular Lake Chabot reservoir and surrounding hills. Great course for first-time trail runners!

Welcome to our 3rd annual Run/Walk and Canicross (canine cross-country) Tofurkey Trot fundraiser!
Our Mission: Animal Run's vegan foot races raise funds for various animal welfare organizations, helping them save the lives of, find homes for, heal and comfort animal residents in need. Animal Run encourages athletes to support vegan businesses that promote human health and a thriving world.
What is Canicross?
Canicross can be run with one or two dogs, always attached to the runner. The runner wears a waist belt or hip harness to minimize stress on the back lumbar area. The dog wears a specifically designed harness for safe and unrestricted joint movement. The two are joined by a bungee cord or elastic line that reduces shock to both human and dog when the dog pulls. If you're new to the sport, here is how to get started. There is a large FREE parking lot next to the race area. There is also street parking if the lot is full.
