Healthy Kids Running Series Spring 2026 - Long Hill Township, NJ

A chip-timed 5K through Summit for participants of all ages and abilities to walk or run in honor of someone impacted by cancer, to remember loved ones, and to celebrate the legacies that inspire us to keep moving forward.

Proceeds from the Love and Legacy 5K directly support LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a free program that helps cancer survivors regain strength, confidence, and connection.

7:30 – 8:15 AM – Race Day Registration & Check-In

8:15 – 8:29 AM – Announcements & Pre-Race Warm-Up

8:30 AM – Official 5K Start

9:30 AM – Awards Ceremony

FAMILY FUN FAIR - 8:30 A.M. - RAIN or SHINE!!

Enjoy games, face painting, tattoos, crafts, and MORE! These events will take place during and immediately following the 5K.

KIDS DASH - 10:00 A.M. *Subject to slight delay based on event flow.

A special race just for the smaller kids! This shorter course will be held on the Village Green grass. To keep things safe and fun, we’ll organize participants into smaller age-level heats based on the total number of children registered or for those who created their very own Kids Dash Team. After their first run, runners will be grouped again with peers of similar speed for a second dash so everyone gets another chance to race, cheer, and have fun. All participants receive their own race bib and a medal.

LOVE AND LEGACY TREE

Let's honor those who have made a lasting impact in our lives. Bring a photo, drawing, painting, or other memento to hang on our dedicated tree in tribute to your loved one(s).

Strollers are allowed, please be mindful of fellow runners and allow others to pass freely.

Dogs are not permitted on the course due to USATF regulations, but they’re welcome to cheer from the sidelines!

Rain or Shine! The race will take place regardless of weather conditions. However, the Family Fun Fair may be canceled if conditions are unsafe.

No Refunds: Registration fees are non-refundable, even in the event of cancellations.

Help us kick off National EMS Week by running or walking in the Mountainside Rescue Squad's second annual 5k fundraiser!

We have three registrations:

• 5k Run which will be timed and you will receive a shirt if you register before May 1st

• 5k Walk which will not be timed but you still receive a bib and shirt if you register before May 1st

• Kids fun run that starts at 8:30am - shirts are not available

Our course this year is a USATF-certified 5K. The official course map and certification are provided below.

Because the start and finish locations are different, the race will use a gun start. Runners seeking the most accurate time are encouraged to line up toward the front at the start. Timing will be recorded via RFID chips in each bib, which will be read at the finish line only.

Parking is limited!! Please arrive early and consider parking in the Mountainside Community Pool or the Mountainside Library and use the footbridge to cross Route 22.

After the 5k is finished we will be holding our annual EMS Week Open House - stick around and meet our volunteers, take tours of our rigs, and much more!!

The Mountainside Rescue Squad is a 501(c)3 charitable organization staffed by 100% volunteer EMTs dedicated to providing high-quality emergency medical services to the Borough of Mountainside and surrounding communities.

The Jaime Pinaire 5K Race & Fun Run is a community event held in memory of Jaime Pinaire—an athlete, educator, and Chatham High School graduate.

Proceeds from the race benefit the James A. Pinaire III Foundation, which provides scholarship support to students with financial need, including graduates of Chatham High School and Robert Treat Academy. Participants can run, walk, or join virtually while supporting educational opportunity and honoring Jaime’s legacy.

This event is open to everyone—from experienced runners to first‑time participants. Runners, walkers, families, students, neighbors, and community members are all welcome. Whether you’re racing for a personal best, walking with friends, or simply coming out to support a meaningful local tradition, there’s a place for you at this event. Dogs and running strollers are welcome.

Participants may choose from in‑person and virtual options, including the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) and the 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5K race is professionally timed by Compuscore, with results available online shortly after the race. You can upload your photos of the event to the race website - easy instructions are here.
