Cedar Mountain 5K and 10K Rally is Cedar Mountain Battlefield Foundation’s (CMBF ) first race. CMBF is a non-profit, all volunteer organization that is the steward of the Cedar Mountain Battlefield that relies entirely on donations and proceeds from events such as this to maintain, preserve and interpret this community asset.

The Cedar Mountain Battlefield is more than just a historical site of a horrific Civil War battle on August 9, 1862. It is also a 160 acres of nature reserve with a large variety of wildflowers and birds. It is a community park that is always open to the public with well-maintained trails for birding enthusiasts, dog walkers and runners. And lastly, it is very scenic with both wooded and open areas.

By participating in our race, we are financially assisting CMBF in carrying out its stewardship mission.

    More than 40 years later, 97,000+ law enforcement officers from around the world are involved and have raised more than $1 billion to support community-based sport programs for people with intellectual disabilities!

    This family-friendly race offers more than just a run. Participants will travel through the beautiful and historic Yowell Meadow Park while celebrating Culpeper’s rich Revolutionary War heritage as part of the nationwide America250 celebration. Whether you are a competitive runner, casual walker, or patriotic history lover, the Freedom 5K offers something for everyone.

    This year’s race supports the Museum of Culpeper History, helping preserve and share the stories that shaped our community and our nation.

    Early registration is just $35 through June 15 and includes:

    • A commemorative race T-shirt

    • A custom finisher’s medal celebrating Culpeper’s Revolutionary history

    • A fun and patriotic community experience

    Groups of five or more can register for just $30 per participant through June 15.

    After June 15, registration increases to $40 for individuals and $35 for group participants, so sign up early and save and guarantee a t-shirt and medal

    Participants can also join the fun by entering the Group Costume Competition, with prizes awarded for:

    • Best Red, White, and Blue Spirit

    • Most Historically Accurate Revolutionary Theme

    • Most Creative Patriotic Design

After a swim in Mountain Run Lake athletes roll out of T1 for a challenging bike course with great pavement and amazing views. It’s not a PR bike course, but it is so beautiful and a place you will come back to ride! The run course has great views of Mountain Run Lake, the Blue Ridge mountains and is a rolling mix of flats and steady hills. There is so much to see and do in Culpeper, VA. Main street offers an eclectic mix of restaurants, shopping and nightlife while the surrounding area offers great hiking, biking, fishing and more.
