Cycling Trail

NorthWest Tour is an affordable, five-day bicycle tent camping tour in and around the beautiful Traverse City and Leelanau areas of Michigan's northwest Lower Peninsula. The tour features great scenery on good roads and trails through many small towns and tourist areas, all from the convenience of a single camping location.

Experience sand dunes and sandy beaches, lighthouses, small lakes and Great Lakes, orchards and vineyards, and the Northwest Michigan charm of resort towns like Elk Rapids, Cedar, Williamsburg, Empire, Glen Arbor, Suttons Bay, and Traverse City. This is a wonderful way to experience the area without paying for a high priced hotel and we feed you!

Daily routes typically have shorter and longer options of 30, 60+ miles. The first and last days are shorter to allow for travel time. Be prepared for hilly terrain no matter the route you take. This is a great ride to begin DALMAC hill training!

    Date: Sunday, October 12th, 2025, 12:00pm Run:

The Farmland 5K Run and Free for All Bike is Traverse City Track Club's running and biking event held on a dedicated cross country course on private farmland; this year on October 12th. A classic, European style turf grass course awaits you as you enjoy the natural challenge of running or biking! Traverse over grass, wooded dirt trails, and farmland running terrain.

New for 2025: A 1-Mile Kid's Event that begins at 11:30am! Kids receive a free small pumpkin to decorate after.

1PM: A Unique Bike Race called the "Free for All"

The Farmland "Free For All" bike event has cyclists taking to the running course for 5 laps of fun competition (approximately 10 miles total), on any bike you choose. Fat bike, gravel bike, mountain bike, maybe even a unicycle; you’ll see it all. Awards for overall and age group winner. It's 5 laps for 2025 as we have the big hill for each lap :)

For the ambitious, we’ll have a combined run/bike as well. Test your running legs in the 5k and your bike (or vice versa) and give the "Free For All" everything you’ve got left. Farmland Combos will be measured by their 5k time added to their bike time.
