  The Poteau Chamber of Commerce will host the 19th annual Cavanal Killer 8k on May 9th. This is one of the most unique and scenic runs in Oklahoma, that is an annual event for many and bucket list event for 1st timers. Participants start the bottom and take a one way 5 mile run or walk to the top of the world's highest hill (elevation at the top: 1999 ft.). At the finish line participants enjoy incredible views and great food and drinks before being shuttled back down to the start.

  This event is designed to promote fitness and inspiring participants with the great accomplishment of getting to the top, whether it be by walking, jogging, or running.

  Event Details:

  Flat Online Registration Fee: $35 until April 1st, $40 after April 1st

  Start Location: Poteau Primary School - 407 Hughes Drive Poteau, OK 74953

  Start Time: 9:00 am (Registration/Packet Pickup will open at 8:00 am)

  Early Packet Pickup: Packets can be picked up on Thursday, May 7th and Friday, May 8th at the Chamber of Commerce office from 9am to 5pm. 501 S Broadway St, Poteau, OK

  8k Course (4.97 miles): This event will be run on a USATF certified course. Click here for the course map

  T-shirts: T-Shirts will be provided to all participants who sign up by April 18th. First come first serve for late sign ups.

  Awards: All finishers will receive a finishers medal

  Refreshments: There are several aide stations on the course and fruit, snacks, hot food, and drinks at the top.

  This event is non-refundable. You may switch your registration to someone else, but no refunds will be issued.

  One of the original multisport festivals in Arkansas...the DeGray Lake Triathlon will feature two triathlon distances (olympic and sprint), a duathlon (sprint), aquabike (olympic) and an open water...

  One of the original multisport festivals in Arkansas...the DeGray Lake Triathlon will feature two triathlon distances (olympic and sprint), a duathlon (sprint), aquabike (olympic) and an open water swim (olympic). There will be a team category for the olympic triathlon.

  DeGray Lake is a reservoir on the Caddo River in Arkansas. This beautiful lake and surrounding Ouachita mountains near Hot Springs and Little Rock is an Arkansas resort state park.

  • Olympic Triathlon: 1,500 meter swim, 40 kilometer bike, 10 kilometer run. Individuals and teams.

  • Sprint Triathlon: 500 yard swim, 13.5 mile bike, 5K run. Individuals only

  • Sprint Duathlon: Run 1: 2 miles, Bike: 13.5 miles Run 2: 3.1 miles

  • Aquabike (swim and bike only): 1,500 meter swim, 42 kilometer bike. Individuals only

  • Open Water Swim: 1,500 meter swim

  Race Venue Information:

  • DeGray Lake, AR located just outside of Caddo Valley

  • 2.5 miles North on Hwy 7 from Interstate 30, exit 78. Turn left onto Skyline Drive.

  • Spillway Trail Head (The Spillway Dam Area) is rougly 8/10ths of a mile west of the intersection of Skyline Dr and Hwy 7.
