The run/walk is held annually in conjunction with St. James Rail Road Days. This is a fun family event for all ages which is held rain or shine.

RUN FOR THOSE THAT CAN'T

Not everyone has the ability to participate in the Rail Run. Sign Up to run for someone you know or we would be happy to provide you with a name of someone to run for. Please see the display to add a name of your loved one.

Teams of 5 or more will receive a $5 discount per racer. Just click the group/team tab on top

    Packet Pick-Up (Sprint, Olympic, 5K run): Gomsrud Park Picnic Shelter

    • Race Day from 7am-8am

    SPRINT TRIATHLON:

    Sprint event distance is: .25 mile open water swim; 20k bike (12.5 miles) on flat county roads; 5k (3.1 miles) run through residential areas.

    Medals to top 2 in each age category, and trophies to top 3 male & female overall finishers.

    RELAY

    Team Relay Divisions are available in the Sprint Triathlon. Teams consists of 2 or 3 people.

    YOUTH TRIATHLON:

    REMEMBER! The Youth Triathlon date is Friday, June 20, 2025. 5:15PM Race is located at the Fairmont Aquatic Park

    AGES 5-8: 25m pool swim (flotation devices allowed),1 mile bike, 1/4 mile run.

    AGES 9-11: 25m pool swim (flotation devices allowed), 1.8 mile bike, 1/2 mile run.

    AGES 12-15: 50m pool swim, 3.5 mile bike, 1 mile run. Ribbons and t-shirts to all participants.

Our event has that small town charm with big city production and turnout. Our race is recognized for being well-run and organized. Known for having one of the least expensive registration fees in the state. This Run Mountain Lake event is still able to provide quality t-shirts, chip timing, awards for the overall winners, as well as for the top 3 in each race division, along with unique commemorative finisher medal for all runners, fruit, and other refreshments. The t-shirt is well designed, ultimately becoming a collectible item for many.

    This community wellness event is perfect for all fitness levels. Whether you run or walk, your participation supports health and wellness programs through the Madelia Health Foundation.

    The Annual Madelia Health Foundation 5K Run/1-Mile Walk will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, in conjunction with the Madelia Park Days Celebration. Participants can choose between a timed 5K run or an untimed 1-mile walk. We are excited to once again partner with Anderson Race Management to help with the event. Register by June 24th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

    5K Run: 8:00 a.m.

    1-Mile Walk: 8:10 a.m.

    Kids Fun Run (10 & under): 9:00 a.m.

    Proceeds benefit Madelia Health, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in northeast Watonwan County. This year’s funds will help support equipment and facility upgrades.
