Thunderbolt Youth Triathlon is a USAT Sanctioned Swim, Bike, Run event for kids ages 5-17 years old. It will consist of (5-10 year olds) 50 yd swim, 3 mile bike, .5 mile run and (11-17 year olds) 200 yd swim, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run. Awards will be presented to age group winners and overall winners in each race as well as top relay teams.

We will continue split timing this event so you'll not only get an overall time which will be used to place individuals for awards, but you'll also get your times for each leg of the race including swim, T1, Bike, T2, Run. For those unfamiliar with triathlon, T1 and T2 are your transitions between the swim/bike and the bike/run.

The goal of the Thunderbolt is to get kids more active, provide an opportunity to engage in the sport of triathlon, have fun and be a part of something amazing. Participants will receive an overall time at the finish and split times for swim, t1, bike, t2, run. They will also receive a t-shirt, a one of a kind challenge coin, a full race bag of goodies and glory for them and their family. Participate as an individual (do the whole thing yourself) OR as part of a Relay Team (swimmer, cyclist or runner). Among other things this race is very well supported by volunteers, sponsors and the community. We have vendors, food at the finish, drinks and a water feature finish.

Kids will be placed in the age group according to their age on December 31 of the current year. For example, if your child turns 11 in November, they would race against 11-12 year olds on race day (even if they are 10 right now). This also means that 17 year olds turning 18 in the year of the race are not eligible to race. On the other end of the spectrum, a 4 year old turning 5 by December 31 of the race year is eligible to race (against other 5-6 year olds). This is a USAT rule, is maintained through all USAT races and ensures consistency and fairness from one race to the next.

the City of Sierra Vista strives to create inclusive events with the ability to make accommodations for children with physical or developmental disabilities. IF YOUR CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE, AND THEY HAVE A DIAGNOSED DISABILITY WHICH COULD FAIRLY AND REASONABLY BE ADDRESSED WITH AN ACCOMODATION, you can use the coupon code "BoltChampion." You will be given an opportunity to describe his or her need in the registration process. Our goal is to help these kids make it to the finish line by allowing a measure of help to be determined individually. Free registration for these individuals is made possible through Premier Alliances, Inc. (https://premieralliances.org) Simply use the coupon code: “BoltChampion” at registration for 100% off if your child would like to participate. There will be a place in registration where you can explain what accommodations are needed

Dear gravel riders, soul surfers & anyone who uses the bike to escape time...

It's Heidi Rentz & Zander Ault here...

We are co-creators of The Spirit World 100 & The Cyclist's Menu, gravel cyclists, chefs & party animals. We're so freaking excited to see you in Patagonia, Arizona for a gravel road race that has inspired every aspect of our lives.

The Arizona Borderlands are known for it's rugged, stunning landscapes & views that you'd never guess existed. You have to see it with your own eyes! Throughout the Spirit World 30, 50, 80, & 100 mile courses - you'll climb up + down & around elevations that range between 4,000 - 6,000 feet above sea level. The San Rafael Valleys demanding terrain asks that you keep your head up at all times. It will be bumpy, winds will always be changing their minds, descents will leave you speechless, and climbs will guide you farther into the Spirit World.

Don't hesitate to reach out with thoughts/questions/ideas... any time. We can't wait to ride bikes and eat food with you this November!

    Why does it cost $255 for the 30, 50, 80, & 100 mile race? ??

This special event is capped at only 250 riders & we intend to keep it this small. It's our biggest goal to make it feel like an intimate gathering for 4 days of goodness.

We care deeply about inviting you to experience something you haven't experienced before.

    You won't be disappointed :)

    Teeth to the wind,

    H & Z
