    Malverne 5K Run-Walk

The Malverne 5K run-walk for education is organized by the Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation (MEFF). The net proceeds of the 5K run go to the MEFF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that supports youth programs within the Malverne school district. The packet pickup and day-of-run registration take place at Malverne High School, starting at 7:30 a.m. (school located east of Ocean Ave.).

The main event, the 5K run, is preceded by a fun run (200 meters) for children aged 10 and under. The fun run starts at 8:30. The start of the kids run is at the intersection of Wicks Ln and N Cambridge Street. Kids (and their parents) run on Wicks Ln toward the start line of the 5K run at H.T. Herber school.

    5K Run Course

Malverne 5K run/walk starts at 9:00 at Wicks Lane next to the H.T. Herber Middle School gym (75 Ocean Ave). The 5K course winds through Malverne, Lynbrook, and Lakeview. In the summer of 2016, Team WEPA launched in New York City with a singular mission: to reach those intimidated by running and show them it was possible. Founded on the acronym Work-Excel-Persevere-Achieve, the crew balances relentless grind with the joyful energy of "¡Wepa!", a Latinx exclamation that captures their spirit perfectly. What started as a crew to help people run their first mile has grown into a family bound by mutual support and accountability. Today, Team WEPA runs the streets of NYC, from Upper Manhattan to the Bronx, creating a safe, encouraging space where newcomers and seasoned athletes alike find their rhythm together. The crew's culture is simple: work hard, celebrate each other, and invite everyone in. Whether you've never run before or you're chasing PRs, WEPA wants you on the journey.

GoldFinger Track Club started in March 2016 when founder Jerry and his crew pulled off an upset relay race victory in Brooklyn that no one saw coming. Word spread fast, and a real running community crystallized around that moment. What began as an unexpected win evolved into a crew of athletes from different countries, different speeds, and different backgrounds, all bound by shared commitment and grind. GoldFinger operates on its own terms, with members scattered across time zones but united when it matters most. Every Thursday at 18:30, the crew gathers at Nacho Macho Taco in Brooklyn for a relaxed, no-pressure hangout that keeps the community anchored. No mandatory runs between those gatherings, just real dedication when races and events come around.
