The County Kids of Steel Triathlon (KOS) is scheduled for June 7, 2026 and open to anyone ages 3-17 years old.

The Prince Edward Fitness and Aquatic Centre (PEFAC) in Picton is the designated start/finish and indoor pool swim location. Conveniently located with access to the Millennium trail, it provides a safe, fun and challenging course for all participants who will be required to complete three core components; a swim, bike, and a run.

Race distances are adapted by age group to ensure that each participant is challenged at an appropriate level. All racers will receive a race kit, refreshments and participant medal in addition to a medal awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers for each age group.

The race will be sanctioned and insured by Triathlon Ontario (TO) which means that the event must meet certain standards set by the provincial governing body. Sanctioning ensures that the race is officially recognized and complies with Triathlon Ontario's rules and regulations and most importantly safety standards.

KOS encourages kids to be active in a fun environment, boosting confidence and resilience as they challenge themselves and achieve personal goals. It promotes life skills like goal-setting and perseverance. By bringing together families, volunteers, and local organizations, the event creates a strong sense of community and celebrates the accomplishments and abilities of all participants.

NEW THIS YEAR We are excited to introduce a TEEN RELAY TEAM event for ages 14-17. Teams will be made up of 3 participants with each person completing 1 of the 3 race legs (SWIM, BIKE or RUN). Teams will complete the 14-17 course distance outlined below.

If you are interested in registering a Teen Relay Team. Please review the registration process below.

    1. Team Captain registers first under “Relay – TEAM CAPTAIN” and pays the full relay team fee. Team Captain will assign a Team Name.

    2. After the captain registers, each teammate registers with the Team Name as a “Relay – TEAM MEMBER” to join the team.

    3. Team Member registration is no charge because it’s included in the fee paid by the captain. Teams should arrange payment among themselves (teammates reimburse the captain as needed).

If you have any questions on how to register a relay team, please contact info@countykidsofsteel.com.

    Registration Pricing

The goal of the organizing committee has been to keep registration fees as affordable as possible while still providing a safe, fun and memorable experience. The registration fee covers each racer's participation, provides each participant with a race kit, participant medal and post-race refreshments. Race timing chips will be used to also give each participant an accurate finishing time and race result.

Included in the registration fee also includes the cost to purchase a Triathlon Ontario One Day Fee. Triathlon Ontario supports the development of safe multisport in Ontario and this fee ensures that participants are covered under Triathlon Ontario.

If you already have a Triathlon Ontario Membership, please get in touch with the organizing committee so we can waive your one day membership fee.

A trail run you can tailor to your own goals!

Challenge yourself on our 7km+ trail to complete as many loops as you can in 2, 4 or 6 hours. Set in the beautiful hills of Batawa, Ontario, our chill trail run is designed to get you outside moving, in a relaxed & supportive environment!

    Course Details / Aid Stations:

Participants can expect to encounter hills, rocks, roots, sticks, mud and bugs. There is one road crossing. Runners will cross at their own risk!

Trails at times are wide enough for two to run side by side and at other sections reduced to a single file track. So please come as a courteous human being. A simple "on your left" or "excuse me" ought to do the trick.

The course will be marked but no mile markers. You will pass our aid station once in the 7km loop.

We will have water and Tailwind available at our aid station approx halfway through the course along with the usual aid station fare. NOTE: We are a cup-less event. Our volunteers will be happy to help refill your bladders (hydration packs), water bottles or handhelds.

There will be space at the start/finish for everyone to leave drop bags and set up chairs or coolers.

We love these trails and we hope you will too, so lets keep them beautiful, STASH YOUR TRASH.

    Kit Pick Up

Kit pick up is 90 minutes before race start.

Details will be emailed to participants closer to the event date. Please be sure to register with an email address you wish to receive race information about.

    Timing/Cheating/Etc

At the start and end of each loop participants must check in at our timing table. There will be a universal clock by which all participants will be timed and recorded. Times will be posted to our Facebook page following race day.

And cheaters only cheat themselves. There are no placement medals, but better, self satisfaction of running a race well!

Please remember we are not a Boston or UTMB qualifier. We're just here to have fun. The only competition should be being a better you than you were yesterday!

    Refunds/Deferrals/Changes

NO refunds or deferrals for any reason.

If you are unable to make it you may give your spot to someone else, but contact us immediately to make these changes. No changes after June 10th 2025

    Other vital stuff

There will be a porta potty on site. No change rooms or dressing rooms.

    SWAG DEADLINE IS MAY 18th!

Anyone registered after this date may not receive swag.
