    Sat, Jul 11, 2026 at 6:30 AM

DGLR50 IS PROUD TO BE TRAIL SISTERS APPROVED RACE.

JUNE 25 IS THE LAST DAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR RACE PREMIUMS.

START TIME: 6:30 AM FOR BOTH DISTANCES. NOTE: THIS IS A NEW START TIME!

    THIS IS A CUPLESS

RACE! THERE WILL BE NO CUPS AT ANY AID STATIONS. YOU CAN PURCHASE A COLLAPSIBLE CUP FOR $4. EXTENDED CUTOFFS: 14.5 HOURS FOR BOTH EVENTS! PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN BE EXTREMELY HOT AS IT IS A SUMMER RACE. PLEASE CARRY PLENTY OF FLUIDS WITH YOU AS YOU GO BETWEEN AID STATIONS. THE SMALL REUSABLE CUP IS NOT DESIGNED TO CARRY FLUIDS BETWEEN AID STATIONS. Please carry this cup as well as your water bottle or hydration pack. There will be absolutely no cups at aid stations (you will need to use your cup if you want to drink Coke or Ginger Ale or grab some pretzels to go). If you have run DGLR50 or Broken Toe 50K/25K in the past, you are already familiar with cupless races.

***We are changing the previous rule which did not allow switching distances after the race starts! While we encourage those who sign up for the 50-miler to do all three loops, we will no longer give a DNF to those who drop to the 50k mid-race.

We will do a packet pick up the night before (July 10th) from 5:30 to 6:30 at the shelter at Caesar Creek Visitor Center, which is where the race starts and finishes. We will start race morning packet pick up at 5:15.

We are looking forward to seeing you all in July!

WHERE: Caesar Creek State Park, Start/Finish – Visitor Center 4020 N. Clarksville Road Waynesville, OH 45068-9408

Some of the best single-track around Caesar Creek lake south of SR 73. The largest hill is about 80′, however, the elevation changes are substantial due to almost constant rollers.

We will have two manned aid stations: at the start/finish and the Buckeye Way Shelter on the 50 Springs loop.

NOTE:: Drop bags are only at Visitor Center (Start/Finish) Aid Station. You will come back to this aid station at the end of each loop.

These aid stations will have Skratch, water, our famous hummus avocado wraps, pickles and pickle juice, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pretzels, chips, fresh fruit, and an assortment of other products. There will be no cups at these aid stations. Carry your reusable cup and water bottle.

The other “unmanned” stations (we will visit them every 30 minutes or so) will have water. No cups at any of the unmanned aid stations

If you need to drop in the middle of a loop, just stop at the manned aid station and we will get you back to the start.

    COURSE DESCRIPTION AND MAP:

The course for both events will start near the Redbud Shelter near the Visitor Center off Clarksville Rd. Each loop will be on the Perimeter (Yellow) Trail plus the Cove (Red) Trail, the Peninsula (Green) Trail, and the Fifty Springs Loop (Orange) Trail.

Runners doing the 50-mile run will run the course counterclockwise 3 times. Those doing the 50k will run the loop counterclockwise 2 times. The 50-mile course has a slight variation at the end of each loop.

    DGLR50 NOTES:

    • Switching distance: you can drop down from 50 miles to 50K at the end of two loops or prior to the start of the event. Please be sure to let the RD and/or race timers know if you decide to switch.

    • Cutoffs will be strictly enforced. Please know them! Cutoffs are for your safety!

    • We will begin slowly sweeping the course at 4:30 p.m. on race day. You must stay ahead of the sweeper if you don’t want to get lost

    Why The WingMan 10k?

On 21 July 2008, our nation lost six of its military heroes in a B-52 crash off the coast of Guam. One of those heroes was my best friend, Joshua Shepherd, who I called my “WingMan” and who commissioned with me just a few years earlier. At his funeral, several of his friends committed to completing the Air Force Marathon the next year in his honor, and from then forward, every year I have tried to honor his memory by both doing something positive and by running a race on the anniversary week of his passing. In 2014 I combined those ideas and became the race director for a new ORRRC race — the WingMan 10K — one that I hope will honor him and the values he taught me: be a friend to everyone, chase your goals, and never leave someone behind. I hope that you will join us and bring a friend to our race to remember a great father, brother, son, and most of all a great friend, as well as all of those who have given their lives serving our great nation! — Eddie Weaver

    Race Concept

The WingMan 10K is all about meeting fellow runners and teamwork! Therefore, we have a unique race structure to encourage you to meet others and cheer them on as your team works to beat the other teams!

TEAMS – Each runner will be randomly assigned one of six teams (yellow, green, blue, orange, red, or purple) and each walker will be assigned one of two teams (black or gray), and given a wrist-band of that color. Team assignments will be randomized to make sure the numbers-per-team are approximately even.

WORRIED ABOUT NOT BEING COMPETITIVE? – That’s ok! We have non-competitive black and gray color-teams for you so that you can just take part (walking or running) in the event without the fear of “bringing a team down” (you wouldn’t do that anyway – this race is about building each other up!). We’d rather have you at our event than have you stressed! <3

STAGGERED START – Runners will start on a staggered start (colloquially called a “handicapped start”) based on their age/sex, with “Women 70+ years old” starting 32 minutes before “Men 20-34 years old” (and everyone else in between in “Waves”). This will help even out the teams and negate any benefit to having an age/sex-stacked team, allowing teams to evenly compete with each other. (Note: The chip-timing results will reflect your true race time, but you’re encouraged to bring your own watch if you want a very precise time.)

AWARDS – The first 25 runners overall, plus the first color team of runners and first color-team of walkers with their team-members into the finish will earn an award!

    REGISTRATION:

Pre-registration online: through RunSignup. Minors may be registered in advance by a parent or guardian, and must have the liability waiver signed by the parent or guardian (online through RunSignup or in person on the registration sheet at the event). All pre-registered participants will pick up their timing chip at the green table on race day.

Race Day Registration: available online until 15 minutes before race start time; hard copy registration sheets also available if needed. We recommend you arrive at least one hour before the race to park, register, and warm-up prior to the race start.

    FEES:

All Current Members Run for Free (fee waived automatically during RunSignup registration, or bring your card/proof of membership to the event)

Free – Military & Veterans (w/DD-214 or military/VA ID Card)

    Non-Members:

    – $10 for ages 15 and up

    – Free for ages 14 and under

Not an ORRRC Member? Click here to find out how to become a member and learn the benefits of membership.
