    Join the band directors from Langley HS and Cooper MS, students, families, and the community on Sunday, April 26 for our annual Bands on the Run 5k, starting at 8:00 a.m. Run the race like a pro or walk the course with a friend! The race begins at Langley High School (6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101), winds through the neighboring community of Langley Oaks, and finishes back up at the high school.

    This annual 5K is a fundraiser and a community-building event in support of the award-winning band programs at Cooper Middle School & Langley High School. Funds raised through this event benefit both fast-growing programs, providing such things as:

    *Professional sectional teachers

    *Guest clinicians

    *The repair and replacement of instruments, equipment and uniforms

    *Scholarship funds for students in need to participate in band events

    We greatly appreciate the generosity of the local community to help us provide an exceptional music education experience for our area students. Your support increases community awareness and enriches the music education of our band students.

    On-Line registration will remain open through race morning. All registrations MUST be completed online.

    Registration Fees:

    Through April 9: $40 for students 6-18 years old, $45 for adults

    April 10-Apri 26: $45 for students 6-18 years old, $55 for adults

    **participants 5 & Under are free with a paying adult

    Registrants will receive a cotton race t-shirt.

    T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for all participants registered by April 9. Participants who register after April 9, will receive a t-shirt on a first come, first served basis until our supply runs out.

    Start Time:

    All 5K runners will begin the course at 8:00 am. Walkers and families will start once the runners have all cleared the starting line. The event will take place rain or shine. This race is stroller friendly. *Please note that because the race starts & ends on FCPS property, no animals are permitted per county policy.

    Packet Pick-up:

    Packet pick-up will be available on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Langley HS (door 14). Then on race day, Sunday, April 26, from 7:15 am to 7:45 am in the Langley High School parking lot. Participants can register online through race day.

    Race Day Event Timeline:

    7:15 am - Race-day registration & packet pick-up opens

    7:45 am - Warm up

    8:00 am - 5K Run and Walk

    After the race, stay and enjoy live DJ music, post-race snacks, take a picture at our photo op and visit our sponsor booths.

    The Race Course

    The 5K course is a lovely "out and back" route through the tree-lined residential neighborhood located adjacent to and west of Langley High School.

    The Fine Print

    *Race timing/scoring is from Potomac River Running/PR Races

    • Parking is toward the back of the LHS parking lot (follow signs on race day).

    *Weather policy -- we'll run, walk and stroll regardless of the weather (no refunds). See you on April 26!

    Celebrate National Trails Day by participating in the 15th running of the National Trails Day 5K at High Bridge Trail State Park. The park is a rail-to-trail conversion and is a wide, level surface with virtually no grade. The course is out and back across the historic half-mile long High Bridge. This event is sponsored by Friends of High Bridge Trail. All proceeds support park programs.

    Local Farmville businesses provide generous raffle prizes randomly selected during the awards ceremony. All runners are automatically entered into the drawing. Both runners and walkers are welcome.

    Start/Finish Location:

    1466 Camp Paradise Road, Rice, VA 23966. $5.00 PARKING AT RACE SITE

    (Directions: located just 3 miles from downtown Farmville, follow Rt. 460 to Aspen Hill Road, follow Aspen Hill Road 1.7 miles crossing the High Bridge Trail. 1466 Camp Paradise Road is on the LEFT and clearly marked as the entrance to High Bridge Trail State Park.     REGISTRATION:

    Online registration $30, $35 (June 1 - June 6 - Race Day)

    Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    If the "in-person" 5K is canceled, all registrations will be moved to a Virtual 5K scheduled the same day.

    Family Pricing

    We are happy to encourage family participation. Save $2.50 per registration when a family of 4 or more registers together. This applies to immediate family members. Family pricing is not retro-active. All registrations must be completed in one transaction. This option is selected during registration.

    FREE $5.00 parking voucher available for those that pickup their packet on Friday, June 5th.

    Race Day registration is available for $35. However, there is no "on-site" registration. Those registering can do so via their mobile device or computer before arriving at the start/finish.

    Strollers and Pets

    Stollers appropriate for running/walking (ie. handbrake, tether, tire size) on a crushed gravel surface are allowed. The event reserves the right to deny participation of strollers it considers unsafe. Please reach out to the Race Director with any questions or concerns.

    The Powhatan Village Run was established in 1981 by Phil Blankenship and Hal Hedley as a community road race for all ages and skill levels. Over the years the race has benefited many causes and donated thousands of dollars to charity. However, the primary purpose of the race has not been to make money, but to provide a quality road race in a rural and hospitable setting. We are proud to be one of Central Virginia’s oldest and best road races!

    Course Description:

    Start and finish will be located at the Elizabeth R. Lewis (Powhatan) YMCA in Fighting Creek Park (2269 Mann Road Powhatan, VA 23139). Miles 1-3 traverse the streets of the Village of Powhatan. Mile 4 runs on the beautiful Fighting Creek Park Trail before returning to Mann Rd just west of the starting line.

    Fees:

    Individual Entry: $20 before Aug. 21; $25 before Aug. 28, $30 thereafter
