Join us for the CASA Superhero 5K fun run/walk and 10K run through historic Leavenworth, KS, followed by a kids' superhero race (100 yards).

The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) concept is based on the belief that every child has the right to a safe, permanent home. Unlike attorneys and social workers, the CASA volunteer speaks exclusively for the child's best interests. By handling only one or two cases at a time (compared to a social agency caseworker's average load of 60 – 90), the CASA volunteer has the time to explore each assigned case's history thoroughly. The volunteer talks with the child, parents, family members, neighbors, school officials, doctors, and others involved in the child's life that may have facts about the case. The volunteer then also reviews all records and documents about the child. They then submit a formal report to the court-recommending placement: should the child stay with their parents, be placed in foster care, or be freed for permanent adoption? If the court leaves the child in temporary care, the CASA volunteer provides continuity by staying on the case until it is resolved and placed in

a safe, permanent home.

Entry Fee

Come out for a day of fun with our 5k family fun run and walk. Meet Flip the frog, our mascot, and have a great morning with friends and family. Stay for the after party with fun music. All proceeds go to Landon's Legacy which was started in memory of our son, Landon. He had a big heart and we are keeping his love for others going by offering financial assistance to students enrolled in the Leavenworth USD 453 school district.

All participants will receive a Landon's Legacy "Be the Light" 5K t-shirt and finishers will receive a unique medal. The race begins and ends at Cody Park where Landon grew up playing. Parking is free and easily accessible. There are also pickle ball and basketball courts if you want to keep the adventure going after the 5k.

Register by April 10th to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Join us for this event in rain or shine as participants get the chance to run the obstacle course and compete in other Raider events. Old clothes that can get dirty are encouraged.

Every year the cadet’s High School JROTC Raider program hosts their Mini Raider Boot Camp for students to get a taste of what it is to be a JROTC Raider. Mini Raider Boot Camp participants will take part in:

    Physical Training Exercises

    Running and Climbing

    Coordination/Cooperation Building Exercises

    Building Listening Skills

    Following Leadership Directions

    Traversing a One-Rope Bridge

    Obstacle Course

    Hiking

“It’s simply amazing to see the kids work so hard and have the time of their life!”

The Boot Camp is put on by JROTC cadets from Leavenworth High School under the direction of 1SG Wayne Cogdill and Coach Edwards. Any and all students, siblings, parents, or grandparents are encouraged to attend. Be prepared to take as many photos as possible. This event will be filled with endless photo opportunities!

The Mini Raider Boot Camp began back in 2009 with Cub Scout Pack 3109 and approximately 15 cub scouts. Last year we hosted more than 300 children and it’s growing year after year! This is a rain or shine event held in the heat or cold. Be prepared to get dirty, work hard, and have the best time ever!
