About the WMC “The most spectacular (and challenging) trail run in Vermont.” – VTSports.comThis community focused mountain marathon traverses 5 mountains—Moose, Hor, Pisgah, Haystack, and Bald—on some of the Northeast Kingdom's most popular trails in peak fall foliage. This event is put on by and proceeds support the nonprofit NorthWoods Stewardship Center whose youth and adult crews have helped steward the trails, waterways, and forests of the region for over 35 years. The Trails & Distances The course consists of primarily single track hiking trails, interspersed with dirt road connectors for the first 21 miles. The last 5 miles of the full marathon are a combination of dirt and paved road. We have two timed distances, full marathon length, and a 20 mile (trail only) option. Folks can also plan to finish halfway at the 12.3 mile mark at the lunch station, but we do not collect times for this length. Event's current local time: 4:37 AM ET

    A mountain-built trek up Burke Mountain’s rugged Northeast Kingdom ridges. The route climbs forested single-track and old logging roads, then breaks onto rocky ridgelines and spruce-soaked slopes for sweeping valley and mountain-range views. Push your pace. Carry your weight. Move with the pack.

    Choose your distance: 7, 14, 21, or 28 miles, and complete in 10 hours to earn the coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf Medal. Toss on a 10, 20, or 35-lb weighted vest or ruck and unlock bonus finisher swag + serious bragging rights. The course will be extremely well marked with a fun post-trek party for everyone to enjoy!

    Trek Day Information

    UltraTrax Burke Mountain kicks off at 7am on October 25, 2026. The starting line will be open from 7am to 10am with the post-trek party starting at 11am. It is not a race, but it is a timed event and walkers will have 10 hours to complete the course. Bibs can be mailed or picked up the morning of the event. **IF YOU REGISTER AFTER 10/1/26, BIBS MUST BE PICKED UP IN PERSON. A friend or relative can pick up a bib if you can't attend. Complimentary parking is available onsite. Finishers will receive a custom t-shirt and velcro patch. Level 3 and 4 participants will also qualify to earn our coveted UltraTrax Grey Wolf medal. Refreshments and food will be available after the race.
