Description

The Jackalope Jam is a 6-hour, 12-hour, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, and 100-hour timed event format, where you record the greatest distance possible during your chosen duration while running, walking, hiking, or, choosing to compete in our separate ruck divisions. New in 2025 you can also compete as a 2-6 person team in our 24-Hour Relay.

The Jackalope Jam takes place at 7IL Ranch, just outside of Cat Spring / Bellville, Texas. This private ranch offers a barn and pavilion staging area, ample parking and on-site camping, washroom and shower facilities, and RV hookup spots (RV reservations made separately through CampSpot). The open landscape and welcoming ranch setting create the perfect atmosphere for a true Texas ultra experience.

The course is a flat, fast 2-mile out-and-back on a short-grass and gravel farm road — one mile out to the infamous “Cone of Death” and one mile back. Participants complete as many full 2-mile laps as they choose within their selected event duration. Only completed laps count toward your total distance. It’s common for runners in the longer events to take extended breaks, sleep, set up personal aid along the course, or even leave the ranch and return later to continue their miles.

A fully stocked main aid station will be located at the start/finish, featuring our standard Texas-sized ultra buffet, including real food options for overnight participants. Runners are encouraged to set up their own tents and crew areas along the course for easy access throughout the event.

All participants receive a medal and either a race shirt or hoodie (depending on event distance), along with a participant keepsake. Solo competitors who reach 100 kilometers or more will earn a buckle, with milestone buckles awarded beginning at 100K. Bonus patches are available for ruck participants.

Relay Pricing and Format: Each time an additional team member registers, the previous members will receive a $10 refund for every new person added. All members pay the same amount, the larger the team the lower the per-person registration fee. The relay is an open format, no designated order or number of laps per member is required. The only rule is that you can only exchange runners in the exchange area at the start/finish after completed laps. Members of teams can not be adjusted after the registration period closes (changes can be made by the captain until registration closes, adding/removing members, changing divisions, etc.) Teams can compete in one of three divisions: all male, all female, or coed (minimum 2 female).
