FAQ

Prepare for the Elements - The Half Marathon and 10k course take place on both paved trails / roads and dirt trails. Be prepared for mud and wet and keep an eye on the weather as the race approaches!

Trail Etiquette 101- Stay to the right and pass on the left. As you are running on the trails, be sure to keep to the right of the trails. We share this trail with the public, so please be cautious and courteous to all pedestrians and cyclists on the trails.

Street Crossing – ALL courses cross public roads. We will have volunteers at the major intersections keeping the crosswalk lights on for athletes, BUT ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS AND ALERT. Half marathon and 10k runners, not all street crossings have crosswalk lights and volunteers—PLEASE BE AWARE and cross ALL roads with caution.

Emergencies – In the event of an emergency on the course, if you have your cell, please call 911. We will have an EMT/Paramedic at Main City Park available for any course emergencies. The water/snack stations are also equipped with first aid kits.

Dogs on the trail – Friendly pups who play well with others and are on a leash are allowed on the courses. Please be sure to start at the back of your race heat to avoid any trip hazards. Please also bring your own pup-poop bags to keep the trails clear for others.

Bibs – Bibs must be visible at the finish line to receive a finisher medal.

Join us for the 43nd Annual PDX Triathlon Festival at Blue Lake Regional Park and kick off the summer racing season. The fun begins on Sunday where athletes compete on our scenic, flat and fast course in either the Super Sprint, Sprint or Olympic Distances. NEW: A 5K on Sunday or try our Paddle Triathlon for those of you who would rather kayak or paddle-board! Relay options are great for friends, family & co-workers!

The Annual PDX/Blue Lake Triathlon was started by the Portland Triathlon Association and Frank Goulard, who is still an active, local Masters Triathlete. He participates in many of our events so come on out and meet the legend, the man who started it all for us here locally!

This weekend festival offers an Olympic and Sprint Distance Triathlon, Duathlon & AquaBike, and a Super Sprint course that offers shorter distances for those new to the sport or just going for pure, raw speed. The Super Sprint is also a great event for our Junior Triathletes!

Recognized by NW triathletes as the “must do” event to open the triathlon season, the PDX Triathlon encompasses two full days of racing (Kids races & Sunset 5k on Saturday & Super Sprint, Sprint & Olympic races on Sunday) including a Sports & Fitness Expo. Triathlon Clubs from across the NW gather to launch the MultiSport season.

The bike courses are flat and fast, with the majority occurring on a section of Marine Dr that is closed to all but local traffic. This makes the course one of the safest and fastest in the region.

PARKING IS INCLUDED WITH REGISTRATION COST.

The 13th Annual Boring Marathon, Half-Boring Half-Marathon, Constantly Boring 10K, and Somewhat Boring 5K will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026. All races start and finish at Boring Station Trailhead Park in downtown Boring, Oregon. Parking will be at Boring Middle School, Naas Elementary School, Boring-Damascus Grange, and the surrounding neighborhood. Please make sure to check out the updated parking map, as we have been able to add almost 100 additional parking spots. As always please respect the neighbors by not blocking driveways or fence openings, fire hydrants, or parking where 'no parking' sings are posted. Please use SE Wally Rd and SE School Ave to reach parking after 6:15 am, as runners will be crossing SE Dee St. The four races are all on the Springwater Trail, out and back, with the marathon being 2-loops of the half marathon course. Both the Half Marathon and Marathon Courses are certified courses and the Marathon Course is once again a Boston Qualifier!

The Boring Marathon Course runs the half marathon course twice and you will get a half marathon split time when you turn for lap 2. The course is USATF Certified Certificate # OR24005JH.

The Half Boring Half Marathon is an out-and-back on the Springwater Trail from Boring Stations Trailhead Park to Towle Ave and back. This course is now a USATF certified Half Marathon course. Certificate # OR24004JH.

The Constantly Boring 10K, which gets really close to the City of Gresham boundary, but never leaves the Boring area, is just a constantly Boring stroll. This race starts at the same spot as the others and is a short 5k out and back course. This race sold out the fastest in 2025, so register early!

The Somewhat Boring 5K, never really leaves the Boring area so truly is just somewhat Boring, starts at the same spot and is a short out and back course.

For 2026, as like the last few years we will continue to offer a virtual option for those that would like to earn the Boring Shirt and Medal, but cannot travel to our lovely little city.

Race Entry Limits - Marathon is limited to 100 entries, the Half Marathon to 220 entries, the 10K to 140 entries, the 5K 140 entries, and Virtual (Unlimited).

Packet Pick-up Locations and Times -

Packet Pickup (Friday before the race - September 11) - Boring Brewing Co. Tasting Room (38250 Pioneer Blvd, Sandy, OR 97055) 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Packet Pickup (Saturday before the race - September 12) - Boring Station Trailhead Park (28008 Keller Road Boring, OR 97009) 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Packet Pickup (Race day - September 13) - Boring Station Trailhead Park (28008 Keller Road Boring, OR 97009) starting at 5:15 am and until each respective race starts.

Time limit - Walkers are welcome, but because we run part of the race along roads, we need to discontinue aid stations and traffic control after 7 hours. However, we will keep the finish line open and staffed until the last runner/walker comes in and nobody will be disqualified by time. Early starts can be arranged - but are not required - for marathoners or half marathoners who expect to take longer than 6 hours. The early start is at 5:30 am.

Boring Sister City of Dull, Scotland - any resident of Dull, Scotland gets free registration (but you pay the travel)

Awards - All entries prior to August 23, 2026 are guaranteed to receive a shirt in their first size choice. Shirts are not guaranteed after August 30th, but we will do our best to order enough shirts to get everyone a shirt. Everyone will get a medal, including our virtual runners! To help guide a shirt choice, we will only be purchasing unisex cut shirts. We use the A4 Cooling Performance Crew for sizing help.

Refunds & Deferrals - Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds once you have registered. Deferrals are offered only in rare circumstances.

There will be NO day of race registration.

Changing races - If you signed up for a race and wish to change to a different race, please contact the race director before August 30th at racedirector@boringmarathon.com. There is no refund for the difference in cost when changing races.

The Boring Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K are all USATF certified and insured races.
