Louisiana Tech University's Society of Women Engineers chapter is excited to host our eighth annual Run Like a Girl 5k on March 21 st, 2026. All proceeds from this event will be donated to 4 PAWS Rescue, USA, in an effort to support the animal shelter in our local area.

We met our goal last year to raise at least $2,000 for 4 PAWS Rescue and raise awareness of the importance of volunteering and/or considering adoption when looking for a family pet and we would like to match that goal this year. We will be having an additional add-on in which it will allow participants to walk with a dog from the Rescue during the 5K for $5! The add-on can be purchased with or without a shirt in the Events section. Also feel free to come walk with your own dog (water bowls will be available throughout the race).

The 5k will begin and end at IESB (Integrated Engineering and Science Building) on Louisiana Tech's campus. Each participant who does the run/walk route will receive an official final time from a timing chip and a commemorative medal, and additional medals will be awarded to the winners of the male runner and female runner in each age division.

Race packet pickup will be held on the morning of the race at 8:00 AM at the IESB Amphitheater on Louisiana Tech University's Campus. The race times will begin at 8:30 AM on March 21 st, 2026.

    The 2026 Louisiana Watermelon Festival 5k event offers a great challenge to local runners and walkers. This course is a fast first mile downhill followed by what we like to affectionately call Watermelon Mountain at mile 2.

    This year, proceeds from the event will go to Willpower Foundation, Inc. This is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers in Northeast Louisiana that host events to race money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.     To top it all off, at the end of the race there will be slices of locally grown Louisiana Watermelon for all finishers to enjoy.

    Your race entry will include this year's race t-shirt guaranteed for online registration until July 14th, 2026!

    Race day registration begins at 6:30 AM in parking lot in front of the Farmerville First Baptist Church, 403 N. Main St., Farmerville, LA 71241.

    As part of our 3rd Annual Spring Fling celebration, the Calhoun Civic Club will host the Not Ya Mama's 5K race on SATURDAY, APRIL 12th, 2025. The race will begin at 8:30am and will be followed at 9:30 with a kid's only fun run. Runners will complete a circuit beginning at the Calhoun Civic Club on Calhoun Loop Road, pass along Owens, McCain Farm Road, West Ouachita Baseball Road, and complete the race by entering the West Ouachita Wellness Park to take a victory lap on the wellness park track. The kid’s run is a short loop around the Wellness Park track. Register early and pick up your race packets Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at the Not Ya Mama’s Spring Fling held at Calhoun Middle School on Highway 80 West in Calhoun. This event is our yearly fundraiser for local scholarships and renovations to our wellness park. At the Spring Fling you will find live entertainment, craft and vendor booths, food trucks, kid’s activities, and cooks from throughout the south firing up their pots as we host

    the 3rd Annual Louisiana State ICS Chili Cookoff Championship. At 11am we will open the event to the public and begin the day's festivities. Purchase a chili tasting band and sample chili prepared by world class chili cooks. Or, check out the craft/vendors market, enjoy the live music performed by the Josh Madden Band, and visit the kid’s zone offering games, jumpers, a petting zoo, and up close meetings with area first responders. A community Easter Egg hunt will close out the day’s activities and is always a hit. So, be sure to REGISTER EARLY and pick up your race packet at the Spring Fling then stay to join us for this fun day. Race packets can also be picked up at the Calhoun Civic Club 6pm-7pm Friday, April 11th or Saturday, April 12th prior to the race.
