The Ripper – Sunrise to Sunset14-ish Hour Timed Distance EventDate: Saturday, May 8th, 2027Start Time: 5:58AMFinish Time 7:59 PMHow far can you run on the trails from sunrise to sunset at the Pocomoke YMCA? The sun rises at exactly 5:58 AM on May May 8th, marking the start of this unique timed event. Runners will complete laps on a challenging 3.3-mile course for a total of 14 hours and 1 minute. The goal? To cover the greatest distance possible within that timeframe. Participants may start and stop whenever they choose, or push themselves to run continuously, hour after hour, without pause. Only fully completed laps count toward your total distance. In case of a tie, individuals who finish the final loop the fastest will be ranked higher. For example, if two runners each complete 16 loops the one who finishes the 16th loop the quickest is the winner Course Details:Approximately 95% trail runningMostly single-track trails with some wider sectionsFeatures rolling mountain bike hills and rugged, root-covered terrainDemands focus and agility to avoid fallsSupport:Well-stocked aid station at the pavilion offering water, Tailwind Nutrition, soda, sweets, and salty snacksYMCA facilities including bathrooms and showers available to all runnersRest Area Setup:Runners will claim their own “rest area” in a beach-style layout in the field — set up your gear wherever you like, whether close to friends or in your own space.Important Information:No rain date; the event will proceed rain or shine, including humidity and heatCancellation will only occur under extreme circumstances preventing EMS and support staff from functioningNo refunds or credits if the event is canceledAll participants will receive a special keepsake swag item and a finisher’s recognition pieceAwards for the top 3 men and top 3 womenEvent Rules:No bib transfers or bandit runnersBib numbers must be clearly visible at all timesPack in, pack out — no litteringStay on the established courseIf you drop out, return your bib to the start/finish area crewNo pacers allowedNo deferrals or refundsNo dogs allowedNo early starts (late starts and early finishes are allowed)Crews may stay at runners’ rest areas but are not permitted on the courseAbout Algonquin Ultras:We’re a community-driven, eco-friendly, volunteer-supported nonprofit dedicated to promoting, maintaining, and expanding Delmarva’s trail system.
