3.1 Miles Run Walk

This race is a fundraiser for Head and Neck Cancer. We will donate all the proceeds to the SPOHNC Foundation. My dad was a member of this foundation throughout his cancer battle. Unfortunately, Head and Neck cancer took my dad from us too early. I think this race will be a great way to honor him, and help future people fight this terrible disease!

The inaugural running of the Finan Doyle Dash is a fast and flat 2‑mile run held in honor of an extraordinary human whose life was taken far too soon. Finan loved running—especially the 2‑mile—during his time with Ben Davis Track & Field, where his love for the sport truly came to life.

Finan was full of life. He loved adventure, thrived on community, and cherished time spent with friends. No matter the event, Finan always showed up with a smile, ready to give his best and lift those around him. Finan was studying at Purdue University and was enrolled in the Air Force ROTC, pursuing his goal of becoming a fighter jet pilot in the United States Air Force after graduation.

This Dash is an invitation to do the same. Runners are encouraged to dedicate their run to someone meaningful in their life—a friend, a loved one, a teammate, or anyone whose spirit inspires them to keep moving forward. Together, we run with purpose.

Proceeds from the Finan Doyle Dash are donated to the Finan Doyle Scholarship, available to eligible Ben Davis students.

Come with a smile. Come with a thirst for adventure. Come ready for the community to come together—honoring Finan, and celebrating a son, friend, and a truly great human.

Come join the cadets from Ben Davis High School Marine Corps JROTC in a non-timed 5k moto-run/walk. Before we start, we will have service to honor our fallen service members at 0800. Registration table will be open at 0700 to pick up your t-shirt and challenge coin. You can also purchase items separately as well, however, supplies will be limited. Run is scheduled to start shortly after the ceremony around 0830.

A little about our fundraiser, Ben Davis MCJROTC has 3 very competitive team with the program, Drill, Rifle and Raider Teams. Each year, these cadets have earned their way to compete at a National level, and this year they have done just that! However, lack of funding has always been the show stopper, but we hope to make it to Nationals this year with your help!

So what is a moto-run? It is a military style formation run with cadets who will take turns calling motivational cadences from start to finish! You have the option to run with the formation, at your own leisure or jump in the formation and break off whenever you like. Time isn't the focus here, it is all about comradery and cohesion, but you can be rest assured that you will still burn those calories while having fun! The course is a very friendly and safe route around the school campus on hard surface, but there is grass terrain along the route as well if you prefer. Don't worry about getting lost or tired, there will be cadets spread out along the route to help motivate and guide you at each water station. We will also have medics onsite along with our local recruiters from all branches of services available to provide information about military service.

All paid participants who ordered a t-shirt and a challenge coin will receive it at check in. SO LETS COME TOGETHER, THIS WILL BE A RUN TO REMEMBER!

The Gateway Gallop is a community event that raises funds to support west side trails. Proceeds benefit the B&O Trail Association and the White Lick Creek and Vandalia Trail Alliance, helping advance trail development and maintenance across our community.

Each year, we are proud to be fueled by The Breakfast Company, who generously provides breakfast for race day. The pancakes are cooked and served hot by the amazing Wayne Township Fire Department, a race-day tradition our participants look forward to every year.

Come run, walk, or stroll, enjoy great pancakes, and support local trails while making a lasting impact in our community.

The ninth annual BENefit Mile will take place on Friday, August 7, 2025 in Plainfield, Indiana at 7:00 p.m.. This net downhill race will begin on Buchanan Street and finish in downtown Plainfield near the Plainfield Friends Meeting off of East Street.

This event features a unique opportunity for seasoned runners to tackle a fast, shorter race than the typical road run, and will also appeal to those just starting out with running (walkers are also encouraged to participate)! The BENefit Mile will separate into corrals based on estimated finish times. Stick around after the races for post-race festivities!

The BENefit Mile will raise funds for the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent in memory of Ben Harmon, a Hendricks County resident and runner and who passed away in July of 2018 of Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Ben’s optimism and genuine positivity towards everyone, as well as his fight against his cancer was incredibly inspiring. This race will raise funds to help the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases support other patients and families in their fight against cancer as well.

    Shirt Guarantee: 7/24/26
