Outrun Krampus: The Sunset 5K Challenge

Brace yourself for a unique, twilight 5K cross country race. We're setting the course on the beautiful Pike Red Devil XC Course, a hidden slice of nature tucked behind Eastbrook Elementary in the heart of Indianapolis.

The challenge? The run begins just before sundown. Your mission is simple: Beat the setting sun and outpace Krampus's "season's beatings" to the finish line. It's a fun, challenging dash against the approaching darkness!

    We had another wonderful day on Campus in 2025 for our Bulldog Jog - the 6th year of our partnership race with Butler University and Indy Runners and Indy Walkers running club! We're looking forward to even more fun in 2026.

    And we'll have Butler Blue, Butler Cheer and Hink, and the Butler Pep Band out once again to support you and our Dawg Walk.

    We're grateful for the generocity of participants and friends who have offered additional donations that bolster our charitable giving. This year we will once again be splitting the donations between our three beneficiaries: Butler HRC student programs, Indy Runners' Giving Back initiatives, and the Indy Humane Society.

    Our 5k continues to be a nice tour through our lovely campus with a flat, fast course for racing hard if you like, or a great family event for kids as well.

    (We will continue to have our Virtual Option for Butler Alumni (or other Butler lovers, or Indy Runners members, or Dawg lovers for that matter) scattered across the country to be able to participate and support the cause, or for anyone Local who would like to still support our Beneficiaries, but might not be available on race day itself. We will still have race shirts for all of our Virtual participants as well (we’ll mail them to you).

    Dog Note: We've had some inquiries about running with your Dog in the races. We can allow folks to run the 5k with their dog if you like - but please be careful of other runner's legs around you. But PLEASE NO DOGS IN THE 10k THROUGH NEWFIELDS. Thanks for your understanding.

    Stroller Note: Also please limit the use of running strollers with young Dawg fans on board to just the 5k as well. It's a little tight on the Canal Towpath for passing, so best to stay on the wider roads of the 5k. Thanks so much.

The race will be held on the Pike Township Cross Country course located behind Eastbrook Elementary. The race date will be the morning of May 17th, 2025. The $25 entry fee is for adults. Pike students will need to donate a canned good for the Pike Pantry for their entry fee. PLEASE REGISTER ALL STUDENTS PLANNING TO RUN.
