This includes the Original Medical Certificate confirming total blindness, partial blindness, or visual impairment, which should be endorsed by a Government Institution, ISSSTE, IMSS, or the Health Sector. They also need to provide the Medical Diagnostic Form for Athletes With Visual Impairment, which should be endorsed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and FEMEDECIDEVI.

The runner with low vision will be able to run at their best with two guides, along the whole event route, who can be either women or men.

    REGULATION

The existing World Athletics rules will be in effect in Mexico.

    GUIDELINES

The Mexico City Marathon has the backing of World of Athletics in Mexico, WA, and AIMS.

    BIB NUMBER:

You'll get a timing chip that’s linked to your printed participation number. This chip is non-transferable, and you need to wear it on the front at chest height during the race to be recognized as an official race runner.

    MEDICAL EXPENSE INSURANCE:

If there's an accident, the runner needs to be the one holding the number; otherwise, it won't be covered.

Make sure to write the runner's name on the back of the number, along with their blood type. If there are any allergies or illnesses, those should be noted as well.

    SERVICES:

Runners need to stick to the official supply zone for their numbers.

    RECOVERY PLAN:

You’ll get a finisher's medal, some fruit, water, and an isotonic drink. But remember, these are just for runners who have their official race number. If you don’t have a number, you’ll be taken out of the race and won’t be allowed into the recovery area.

    T-SHIRT SIZE:

Asking for a t-shirt size when you register is just for stats and doesn’t mean the Organizing Committee has to give you that size.

    RUNNERS SETTING UP:

Participants need to make their way to the assigned starting point.

Your starting block will be assigned based on the details from your registration. If you enter from a different block, you’ll be disqualified. To keep everyone safe, it’s really important to stick to your assigned starting block.

    TIMES AND RESULTS:

There will be timing mats set up along the whole route, so it's really important to go through all the checkpoints to steer clear of disqualification. As runners hit those checkpoints, you can keep an eye on their progress in real time using the Marathon App. Just a heads up, though—the times and results you see posted aren’t the official ones.

    UNOFFICIAL PARTICIPANT:

They can't participate in the race and will need to exit the route.

Anyone who isn't officially registered and enters or accompanies a participant during the event will need to leave the course right away. These unofficial runners put the safety and quality of service at risk for those who have registered and paid properly. Additionally, participants found with a fake bib number will face penalties and won't be allowed to run in any events under the "Mexico City Marathon" brand (including races leading up to the Mexico City Marathon, Half Marathon, and Marathon) in the future.

    ROUTE BOUNDARY SETTING:

Participants need to stay within the boundaries of the route, which are marked by fences, signs, or other indicators, at all times. They should be aware of and understand the event signage and symbols that provide race directions and services, and they must follow the officials' instructions. Not following these rules will lead to disqualification.

    TIME DEADLINE:

You can run at a pace of up to 8 minutes and 30 seconds per kilometer, which means you'll finish the route within 6 hours at the most. If anyone is moving slower than that, they'll be asked to hop on the sweep vehicle that trails behind and will take them to the finish line. Unfortunately, those runners will be disqualified and won't be part of the official results.

    ROUTE TRACKING:

Not finishing the whole route or crossing the finish line means disqualification. If participants have incomplete or unusual markings on the official timing mats, they’ll be checked and could be disqualified. If someone needs to step off the route or come back on, they can only do it at the same spot and won’t be allowed to re-enter the race, whether it’s to improve their position or help another competitor.

Note: any runners caught being unsportsmanlike, like skipping parts of the course to finish early, will be disqualified.

    JUDGES

The judges will be approved by the World of Athletics in Mexico, and an Electronic Timing System will be utilized, featuring a chip attached to the competitor's number that they’ll wear on the front during the race (this system is just for support and doesn’t decide the winners).

On January 16, 2021, while Mexico City emptied and the world pressed pause, three friends made a defiant choice. Luis Fernando, Alejandro, and Fernanda laced up and ran through silent streets, seeking human connection at a moment of profound isolation. That run became Demente, a crew that transformed pandemic desperation into a founding principle: #CorrerEsParaTodos (Running Is For Everyone). Today, around 170 runners call Demente home, gathering for Tuesday speed sessions at Parking Two, Wednesday socials from Torre Virreyes, and Thursday mornings at City Market Café starting at 6 AM. The crew operates without membership fees, with captains Yves, Carlos, and Maye coordinating both competitive training and the post-run coffee sessions that often last longer than the miles themselves. What began as three friends refusing isolation has become Mexico City's definitive reference point for inclusive, community-driven running culture.

The Gang Running Club began in July 2021 when Jair founded the crew on a simple conviction: running is better together. What started as a belief has grown into a tight-knit family of around 20 runners navigating Mexico City with shared purpose and genuine connection. Their philosophy rejects labels and stereotypes, instead creating space where belonging, personal growth, and community thrive for anyone willing to show up. The Gang moves through Chapultepec Forest on Wednesday mornings, tackles track sessions at dawn on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and wraps the week with their beloved Thursday evening Friends and Family run, followed by tacos and cold beer. This is where friendships form fast.

Running Mafia was born in March 2019 when Erick wanted something different, a running community where runners weren't just names on a list. Now around 100 members strong, Running Mafia operates on two core beliefs: personal growth and real camaraderie are non-negotiable. Coach Beto builds individual training plans tailored to each runner, keeping everyone accountable to their own goals and to each other. The crew gathers twice weekly at TELMEX, Wednesday nights at 7 pm and Sunday mornings at 7 am, each session offering its own rhythm. What keeps members coming back isn't just the training, it's the friendships, the support network, and a community that shows up for each other on the road and beyond.

MNKS Run Crew emerged in May 2017 when two Nike running projects, Zoom and Shanka, merged in Mexico City. Founders Luis Miguel, Javier, and Pablo transformed shared ambition into one committed crew built on serious training and genuine community. The crew of around 40 dedicated runners is tight-knit and accountable, a place where everyone knows your name. Eleven of their original twelve members qualified for the Boston Marathon, proving that effort and belonging are inseparable here. Every Tuesday at 6am, MNKS gathers at the Sope in Chapultepec, where quiet mornings, perfect light, and strong company create the best start to the week in Mexico City.

Tempo Running Crew was born in August 2020 when three friends turned their shared love for running into something bigger. Now nearly 100 runners strong, Tempo has become one of Mexico City's most welcoming crews, spanning all ages and abilities. Their philosophy is simple: run for the joy of it. Every pace, every distance, every runner finds a home here. The atmosphere is warm and honest, built on mutual encouragement rather than competition. Three signature runs anchor the week, Monday mornings at Pista El Sope, Wednesdays on Paseo de la Reforma, and Saturdays at Ciudad Universitaria. What started as three friends has become a tight-knit community that proves running is about so much more than speed.
