2026 - event is happening on a Thursday afternoon

No race day registration available

The Splash and Dash Race is an aquathon consisting of a 1.5km (1-mile) swim and a 5km (3.2-mile) run.

It is a fun, community-focused, grassroots event. There are timing chips; the transition is not fenced in with guards; and spectators, kids, and dogs are encouraged. The swim is in Stevens Creek Reservoir, right outside of Cupertino, CA. The run is on the Stevens Creek Canyon park trails. It is a great way to get intense training in two disciplines or to get open-water swimming practice.

The Youth Splash and Dash is our first swim & run for kids ages 6-14. Come celebrate our first event with a full size finish line with snacks and finisher certificates and hang out with their friends.

This would be an introductory event that would prepare the kids for their first triathlon/aquathlon.

The main goal is to wake up the outdoor spirit in our little athletes and walk them through the transition in this type of sport that is lately gaining in popularity.

Distances are short and intended simply to expose our youngest athletes to the basic elements of two legs of triathlon.

The swim will take place in the Washington pool, which has 25 yard lanes. Ages 6-10 will do 4 lengths, and ages 11-14 will do 8 lengths. Volunteers will help count laps.

The transition from swim to run will take the youth to the picnic area before doing a loop around a nearby section of campus. The run course will be supported by cheering, excited volunteers. 11-14 year old will do two loops.

Note: triathletes usually swim and run in the same clothes! There will not be a changing area, but we will have an area for youth to put clothes on over their swimsuit if they aren't wearing a triathlon suit.

Sanborn County Park is home to well-groomed but steep and difficult trails, which makes for a challenging for runners of all abilities. Situated on the eastern slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains and home to giant coastal redwood groves, the park is shaded and relatively temperate even in the hotter months, making it a local favorite for hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. Racers can expect big climbs and descents with good footing on flowy singletrack trails through dense forest.
