Indoor Run Swim Triathlon

Registration will open on April 1, 2026!

Indoor Triathlon

  • Swim 10 Minutes in 25 yard pool (4 feet depth)

  • Bike 30 Minutes on stationary cycle

  • Run 20 Minutes on treadmill.

The combined time for the swim, bike and run is 60 minutes, plus two transitions. The first transition between the swim and bike is ten minutes and the second transition between the bike to run is five minutes. Each heat will have a maximum of 6 participants. Three lanes of the pool will be used, with two swimmers in each lane. After completing the swim segment participants will have a 10 minute transition time to change and move to the cycle room for the bike segment. The run segment is upstairs using the treadmills.

Each participant will have 10 minutes for the swim, 30 minutes on the bike, and 20 minutes for the run, with the allotted transitions between activities. Fun and pressure-free, this event is great for both experienced triathletes and those competing in their first race.

Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate in this race.

Relay Team option

As an alternative to an individual completing all three segments of the triathlon, a team of 2 or 3 can participate. The entry fee for a TEAM is $90.00. When registering a team, only one (1) person sets up the team, naming the team and pays the participation fee for the team. All team members must also register to provide your information and sign the waiver.

All three segments are done in sequence (swim, bike, run) and the distance (laps and miles) for each segment will be recorded. The results will be by total distance and by ranked scoring.

This event will benefit the OhioHealth Behavioral Medicine/Addiction Medicine Fellowship. All profits from the Tri McConnell will help with educating physicians in addressing the opioid epidemic. Some areas that physicians receive education in are: inpatient psychiatry, pregnant and postpartum women suffering from opioid use disorder, advocacy for changes in local, state and federal health policies, and hands on experience in outpatient recovery. Please see the Donation page to donate to this important and needed program. Your donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

REGISTRATION COST GOES TO THE ORGANIZATION SO THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO HOST RACES. ALL DONATIONS BEYOND REGISTRATION COST GO DIRECTLY TO THE LIVING LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP - THE MOST TANGIBLE AND ICONIC MANIFESTATION OF OUR MISSION.'

Runners have exactly 12 hours to cover as many miles as they can. They are allowed to sleep, eat, leave and come back, and even flat out stop running whenever they want to - whatever they want to do get the furthest mileage possible. Due to the rules and structure of this type of run, it simply tests one thing: How far can you push yourself?

We also have a 10K option for those who still want to support us outside of the 12 Hour Endurance Run!

Location: The Ohio State University Oval

    Registration Options: 12-Hour Solo- $60 12-Hour Solo Virtual- $60

    • Registration includes a race packet with a race t-shirt, race bib, medal and more!

Sponsored Runners: One of our premier fundraising methods is our Sponsored Runners. Before the run, these runners will secure "sponsorships" from friends, family, and anyone who may want to contribute to the cause. By "sponsoring" a runner, these donors are agreeing to donate a specified amount per mile that their runner covers in the 12 hours. With this setup, each literal step forward made by our Sponsored Runners is symbolic of the pain they are willing to endure and their desire to bring positive change upon our deserving families through the Living Legacy Scholarship.

If you register as a sponsored runner or team, you will need to become a fundraiser when you go through the registration process

Fundraising: Thanks to the generous contributions of others and the all-volunteer aspect of our team members, 100% of the profits raised through:

    • Sponsored Runner Sponsorships

    • Corporate Sponsorships

    • Day of Race Donations

    • Scholarship Specific Donations

go toward our Living Legacy Scholarship endowment fund. Race registration fees are traditionally attributed to race and organization operational funds.

Lace up for change! Revenue from race entry fees and raffle tickets will support The Running Outreach Initiative's cause:

    • The Running Outreach Initiative is an OSU student-led nonprofit whose mission is to enrich the lives of elementary and middle school students through the power of running. This accessible sport provides health benefits and social opportunities, though many of our coaches have also experienced the role that running has played in developing their character, including their self-motivation, grit, and confidence. TROI wants to remove the financial barriers to participation in this incredible sport, therefore all revenue generated from the Kicks for Kids 5K will be used to purchase brand-new injury-preventing running shoes for the ~100 youth athletes whom TROI coaches in the Columbus area across its programs at Graham Elementary & Middle School, North Columbus Preparatory Academy, South Columbus Preparatory Academy at Southfield, and A+ Children's Academy. Learn more at https://www.instagram.com/runningoutreachosu/.

    • Buckeyes for Public Health is an OSU student organization partnering with TROI to organize this event and raise funds in support of TROI's contributions to youth public health in the Columbus community. Learn more at https://org.osu.edu/buckeyesforpublichealth/.

This year's race will be held in the Recreational and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) at The Ohio State University on Sunday, April 19th, 2026. This will count as a USAT Collegiate Nationals qualifier. An indoor triathlon is based on time rather than distance, allowing all levels of ability the opportunity to compete! There will be a 10 minute swim in the indoor competition pool. Then there is a 15 minute transition that allows you to change into biking clothes/get situated at your stationary bike. The stationary bike ride will last 20 minutes. A 5 minute transition is then given to allow you enough time to get to the track. Concluding the race is a 15 minute run on our indoor track. Prizes will be given out to our winners.

Prizes: This years prizes include a Roka Wetsuit! The top male and top female finishers will each be awarded a certificate to purchase a wetsuit.

Race Wave Assignments: Subject to some exceptions, collegiate racers will race first, followed by open racers. Preliminary wave assignments will be posted on April 12th, 2026 and will be emailed out. Any registrations after April 12th will be placed in the last waves.

We will not be taking requests for specific wave placements.

Registration Deadline: While there is no official registration deadline, the race does have a maximum capacity. Please, keep this in mind.
