Amherstburg's Canada Day 5k!

Come on out to beautiful historic Amherstburg. Participate in our Canada Day 5km Run/Walk/Wheel and Kids dash. Join our community as we kick off an entire day filled with fun in our timeless town.

When: July 1, 2026 9:00am

Where: 100 Laird Ave (in front of Fort Malden Historic Park)

ALL Registrants will receive a medal and adults will receive a shirt guaranteed if you register by May 1.

Last year this race had over 1000 participants. Arguably one of the most exciting, spirited races in Windsor-Essex County. The course takes your through Amherstburg's historic downtown core, get cooled off by our local firefighters, hundreds of fans cheering, and every dollar raised goes back to LOCAL charities. Last year we were able to donate $24,000 back to our community all by having fun!

LAST YEAR THIS RACE SOLD OUT, over 1000 participants. If you want to secure your spot and swag PLEASE make sure you do so before May 1.

Race Kit Pick up: Tuesday June 30, 2026 3:30-7:00pm at Amherstburg Libro Centre (3295 Meloche Rd)

Race Day pick up is between 7:30-8:30 am only at FORT MALDEN (100 Laird Ave). Arrive early because we want the race to start on time.

Kids Dash to start at 9am and Adult Run/Walk/Wheel to start directly after (usually 9:15).

Kids dash will be a 1km route. We understand that the younger children will not be able to complete the full distance. They are allowed to turn around when desired and as long as they registered and have their bib they will receive their medal.

This is a chipped timed W.R.A.C.E. event

This event is completely run by volunteers and ALL money raised this year will be donated to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation for conservation projects in our region.

After the race enjoy the whole day in Amherstburg. All of the activities can be found at: visitamherstburg.ca

Volunteers are always welcome! We are still looking for volunteers. If you want to be apart of Amherstburg's tradition please contact:

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Where to park the day of the race?

Here is a map of our downtown core. There are multiple areas for parking and then walk to the destination. There is street parking but just a reminder that it is July 1 so make sure you park on the appropriate side of the road. You will not be able to park on the route of the race.

  1. What is the race route?

Kids dash will leave at 9:00am sharp. The race will start at 100 Laird Ave in front of Fort Malden under a giant red arc. The race is 1km and kids will run towards the Waterfront Ice cream store and back. They do not have to run the entire distance if they are young, we understand some kids love to participate, but cannot make it the full distance. As long as they are wearing their bib crossing the finish line they will receive a medal.

Adults map is below. You will start at 100 laird under the arc and run down Dalhousie to the firefighters spraying then turnaround and run straight back. (Please run on the right side of the road, when the turnaround comes we do not want any collisions to occur.)

  1. Is it a timed event?

YES, WRACE is a not-for-profit organization that times run/walk/wheel events. This being said it is chipped timing. The timer starts the second you hear the horn. If you want an accurate time place yourself at the front of the event. If you are slower pace please place yourself near the back. Walkers will start 5 min after runners begin but still receive an accurate time.

  1. Can I bring a stroller or dog?

YES! All are welcome. Dogs must be on a leash and be comfortable in large crowds. This also can be a loud event. Dogs should be comfortable with loud sudden noises.

  1. Can other people pick up my race package?

Yes, You will just have to have their first and last name and confirmation number.

  1. Where do I put my bib?

Please attach your bib visibly on the front of your body. This helps us give an accurate race time.

  1. Do kids dash get shirts?

No, Kids Dash participants will not get shirts. Like everything costs have gone up. We want to keep the race affordable and fun. Kids will receive a medal and some swag in their race packet as well.

Join the Maple City Mile Run Group, DougTheFoodie, and the crew at WindsorEats for a grueling* one-mile journey around the city sidewalks of Windsor.

*It’s not actually grueling. It’s 1,600 meters of pure Cinco de Mayo joy.

The Swag Situation: Look, we’re going to be honest with you. There are no medals at the finish line. There are no ribbons. If you want a piece of shiny plastic to hang on your wall, this isn't the race for you.

Instead, every participant will be "Crowned" with an exclusive, commemorative Margarita Mile Demi-Buff. It’s breathable, it’s branded, and it’s the only acceptable headwear for a person currently hunting for a taco.

The Post-Race Ritual: Once you’ve conquered the sidewalk, we’re heading straight to the source. WindsorEats will have the cold Margaritas flowing and the Tacos steaming (available for purchase).

Date: May 3rd (Cinco de Mayo!) Location: WindsorEats, Windsor, ON.

NOTE; THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT. NONE TRANSFERABLE AND NONE REFUNDABLE.
