Race Day RESCHEDULED [inclement weather]: New date of February 7th, 2026

All existing registrants and ticket holders have automatically been transferred to the new date, but also have the option for 100% credit to any TROT event. Please see your RunSignup registration to complete the credit deferment.

Location: La Grange, Texas

Trail Racing Over Texas is excited to highlight yet another hidden gem of Texas with the Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Site. This beautiful park sits high above the Colorado River with views overlooking the town of La Grange. This will serve as our backdrop to the start and finish of a very unique format of trail running and festival, much more family and spectator-friendly than your typical race. Kids can enjoy the brand new interactive playground, check out the historic sites, and also partake in the free kids' event.

La Grange, in part made popular by the song of the same name by Texas' own ZZ Top, will also set the theme as we enjoy live music during and after the races.

Participants Receive

  • Race Entry (several event options from 5k, two different 1-mile time trials, or all three!)

  • Race Bib Number

  • Race Shirt (included for Sharp Dressed 5k or Tres Hombres Challenge, extra for Kids K or Time Trials)

  • ZZ TROT Fake Beard or Cheap Sunglasses

  • ZZ TROT Temporary Tattoo or Sticker

  • Finishers Medal

  • More perks being added!

  • Parking & Park Entry

  • Live ZZ Top Tribute Band, Three Hombres, Concert

The Trail and Course

The park is comprised of wider pathways up top, grass areas, rocky single-track and double-track up and down the ravine, along with one section of stone stairs on an alternate part above the old brewery. You can expect around 500ft of gain/loss in the 5k event, around 250ft per mile on the outer loop. The 5k course will start with a shorter loop including the stair climb up to the historic homestead before following the outer trail loop so that we can highlight everything this park has to offer. Details of each event are provided below.

Race Formats

Due to the smaller footprint of the park and singletrack, we have devised a unique format to allow better flow, safety, and mix up the typical way races are run. Participants can choose to compete in one, or all, of the events as either a runner/walker or ruck division. The day begins with the Sharp Dressed 5k, waves will be based on estimated finish time, followed by individual time trial format loops, where runners will start solo at 30-second intervals and complete a single counter-clockwise 1mi "Tush" loop, before we switch over to the reverse and complete the clockwise direction "La Grange", as two separately recorded time trials.

Start order and waves list will continue to be revised as we get closer to the event - stay tuned on race week for final wave and start time assignments. This format will also allow some great spectating and socializing before, during, and after the events. Each event will have its own set of results, in addition to the cumulative time for all three with Run/Walk and Ruck Divisions.

2026 Event Schedule

The schedule will continue to be adjusted based on the number of entries and required waves/spacing.

Wild Hare has turned into one of our most fun trail races of all Tejas Trails events. With the safety and beauty of a privately owned Texas ranch and adventure park, and multiple really fun loops, new runners get a feel for trail running, and experienced runners get an opportunity to try new strategies, fueling, diet, etc. as well as hammer out a fast and fun race. Always a good turnout, usually nice weather, an entertaining course, hundreds of people hanging out all day and night... this is an absolutely fantastic trail race weekend with a bunch of good memories waiting to be made.

While every racer will get some cool swag, Oct. 20 is the deadline to get a shirt.

Click Here for Tejas Trails Policies (you really do want to know this stuff!)

Notice: There is a $10 Bluff Creek Ranch park entrance fee per person that will be collected onsite on race day at the Park. Children aged 0-5 are free and kids aged 6-12 are $5. Cash only.
