The University of South Carolina Aiken is proud to announce its 3rd Annual Homecoming 5K Run to benefit The Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship on campus on Saturday, February 21. This year, the race uses a new course and starts at 8:00 AM.

Proceeds from this 3.1-mile run will benefit The Sandy Rogers and Scotty Richardson Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship honors two Aiken police officers who were tragically killed in the line of duty over a period of two months in 2011 and 2012. Awarded by the sociology program at USC Aiken, preference is given to students pursuing a career in criminal justice with a demonstrated financial need.

Dr. Christine Wernet, professor of sociology at USC Aiken, taught Scotty Richardson ‘05 when he was a student in the sociology program. “This scholarship is very important to me,” Wernet says, “It’s a fitting tribute to the fallen officers who meant so much to Aiken County. Criminology and Criminal Justice is a leading interest for students who major in sociology at USC Aiken. This is a meaningful scholarship for our students that makes a difference in their lives.

The Homecoming 5K Run is a family-friendly event, with race participation open to all ages and abilities. Each 5K participant receives a t-shirt if registered by February 4, 2026. Finalists receive medals. This will be a chip-time race.

This all-inclusive summer camp for adults brings together trail runs, coaching workshops, nutrition seminars, yoga, a self-defense session, and delicious chef-prepared meals - creating an experience that's equal parts education, adventure, and pure fun.

    Key Retreat Facilitators:

Coach Victoria Seahorn of Marathon Majic

Victoria Seahorn is an Atlanta based race director, coach, and community builder whose journey blends elite endurance sports with heart-centered purpose. From her early days as a passionate marathon runner to serving as National Training Program Director for Jeff Galloway, Victoria has spent decades immersed in the running world. A life-changing loss inspired her to found the Georgia Marathon—now the Publix Georgia Marathon/Half Marathon—which became one of the largest inaugural marathons in the United States and a legacy of resilience, remembrance, and community.

Today, Victoria continues to create meaningful, joy-filled athletic experiences through races, youth and adult coaching, and charitable events that bring people together beyond competition. Her work reflects a deep belief in perseverance, service, and the power of shared experiences to transform lives. At Camp-Run-A-Muck, Victoria brings her hard-earned wisdom, inspirational coaching, and passion to help others push past obstacles to celebrate milestones - no matter how big or small - on the road, on the trail, and in life.

    Kayla Fitzgerald of Endurance Nutrition

Kayla Fitzgerald of Endurance Nutrition is a Registered Dietitian, ultrarunner, and race director of Palmetto Ultras, based in Charleston, South Carolina. She helps runners move beyond guesswork and into confidence by creating personalized race-day fueling strategies that support strong, steady performance from the first mile to the finish line.

Kayla’s approach blends evidence-based sports nutrition with real-world experience—because she’s lived what she teaches. She understands firsthand how the right fueling plan can prevent bonks, boost confidence, and turn race day into the celebration it’s meant to be.

She works with runners of all levels, whether you’re just beginning to think about fueling or you’ve tried every strategy and nothing has quite clicked. If you want to feel energized, prepared, and confident on race day—without the overwhelm—you’re in the right place.

Camp-Run-A-Muck is your opportunity to step away from the noise, reconnect with your body, and learn how to fuel in a way that truly works for you. Alongside Kayla, you’ll run, learn, and build meaningful community in a supportive, inspiring retreat environment.
