Experience a scenic race course that takes you throughout historic downtown Wilmington. “The course has a lot of variety, and gives visitors a tour of many of the most interesting and beautiful parts of the city,” said one past participant from Pennsylvania.

The race route travels across beautiful Brandywine Park on the Brandywine River, along prestigious parkways, through historic neighborhoods of Wilmington and past downtown’s Rodney Square but without some of the confusing turns and crossovers. Choose from a full marathon, half-marathon, 10k, or 5k. Bring a friend to take advantage of our referral rewards to earn cash and gear. Non-runners can join us at start/finish line at Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park for a great party with live music, vendors and activities for the whole family.

We believe this is your best chance to run a certified 26.2 mile road marathon in Delaware! We are a USATF certified Boston Marathon Qualifier and historically 10%-12% of our marathon runners have qualified for the Boston Marathon.

    Mimosas for Marrow 5K

Join us for the 4th annual Mimosas for Marrow 5K run/walk—a joyful, heartfelt event that brings our community together to support families affected by blood cancers and disorders, and to honor the incredible strength of those searching for a lifesaving bone marrow donor.

    Inspired by Oakley’s Journey

This event was created by local moms, Sam and Brittany, after Sam’s daughter, Oakley, received a lifesaving bone marrow transplant in 2022. Her courage continues to fuel our mission to support NMDP and families right here in our community walking similar roads.

    Why It Matters

Every 3–4 minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer or disorder. For many, a matching donor is their only hope. Your presence, your steps, and your support truly make a difference.

    Your Impact So Far

In just 3 years, the Mimosas for Marrow 5K has grown into something extraordinary:

    • 2,000+ participants

    • Strong support from businesses

    • Countless volunteers

    • Over $76,000 raised

    • 56 new potential bone marrow donors added to the registry—including two who have already saved lives

Together, we are creating real, lifesaving change. Register today and bring your friends—let’s run, walk, sip, smile, and make an impact together!

Runners, walkers, and supporters from across New Castle County will come together on April 23, 2026, at Abessinio Stadium for the 13th Annual Lt. Joseph Szczerba Memorial 5K, a meaningful event honoring the life and legacy of a true Salesian Gentleman and community hero.

The race was established in memory of Lieutenant Joseph Szczerba ’85, an 18-year veteran of the New Castle County Police Department and proud Salesianum alumnus, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on September 16, 2011. Founded by his widow, Kathy Szczerba, the event supports the Szczerba Memorial Scholarship, which provides educational assistance to the children of First Responders. Each step taken and mile completed helps continue Lt. Szczerba’s legacy of service, sacrifice, and commitment to others, with all proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund.
