Joggin for the Noggin Saturday September 26th 2026

Come for the run and stay for the fun! This is a great, family friendly race held in conjunction with the Amelia Earhart Festival, which is BACK this year!. Choose from the challenging 8k run/walk that provides some hills to test your training, or the 2k which is mostly flat with one uphill and one downhill, perfect for aspiring runners/walkers! It is chip timed with finishers medals given to help enhance those bragging rights! The race begins and ends at the Atchison Family YMCA. After the run, head on over to the mall area for even more family fun! This is not a closed course race.

Kid’s Dash is a fun, untimed dash for ages 10 and under. Registration includes a mini bib, youth-sized shirt, and a specially crafted medal for our youngest runners! (If your child wants to run the kid’s dash without swag, they’re welcome to run free on race day!)

Register by midnight on Thursday, two Thursdays before race day, to guarantee your shirt!

Please Join us for our 3rd Annual Health to Better Living 5K and Fun Run. This run will benefit 4H members in Atchison County by helping cover the cost of 4H camp. Every year Atchison County sends many 4H members to Rock Springs 4H camp where they learn life skills and make lifelong memories.

The race will be held Saturday Morning August 8th, 2026

5k race start time 7:00 AM

Fun Run stat time 7:05 AM - the Fun Run distance is approximately one mile

Cost to enter the race is $25.00 per person - register before July 15th to get a race day shirt!

CASH PRIZE for 1st and 2nd place for both the 5K race and the Fun Run!

Pick up your bib number and race shirt Thursday August 6th in the Effingham Park, across from the livestock barns from 3-5pm. We will have a tent set up with our race banner hung.

The Start and Finish Line are at the corner of William and 4th street in Effingham

New this year- We purchased new large digital timers to display race time!

This is the 19th annual Running for the Future race being held in Wathena, KS. The courses run on rural roads, paved. The 5k is nearly flat out and back. The 10k is a hilly first 5k followed by a downhill and fairly flat and fast last 5k. There are water stations on the course for both the 5k and 10k courses. Medals will be given to the top 3 in each age division and to all kids run finishers.

Race starts near the corner of 4th street and st. Joseph streets in downtown Wathena.

Race day registration will be available from 7 am to 7:55 am.

Join us for this event in rain or shine as participants get the chance to run the obstacle course and compete in other Raider events. Old clothes that can get dirty are encouraged.

Every year the cadet’s High School JROTC Raider program hosts their Mini Raider Boot Camp for students to get a taste of what it is to be a JROTC Raider. Mini Raider Boot Camp participants will take part in:

The Boot Camp is put on by JROTC cadets from Leavenworth High School under the direction of 1SG Wayne Cogdill and Coach Edwards. Any and all students, siblings, parents, or grandparents are encouraged to attend. Be prepared to take as many photos as possible. This event will be filled with endless photo opportunities!

The Mini Raider Boot Camp began back in 2009 with Cub Scout Pack 3109 and approximately 15 cub scouts. Last year we hosted more than 300 children and it’s growing year after year! This is a rain or shine event held in the heat or cold. Be prepared to get dirty, work hard, and have the best time ever!
