Flat and fast courses around Shepherd during the Maple Syrup Festival. The 5k walk is non competitive. The 5k will be chip timed in 2026. Kids Fun Run will be at 9AM starting just outside the track finish line. No registration needed for the fun run.

***Please Note: Race giveaways (breakfast ticket, race shirt, and commemorative glass) are guaranteed for everyone who registers by 11:59 pm on 3/31/26 After this date giveaways will be given out in order of registration until gone. Once supply is gone they will be unavailable. As shirt sizes become unavailable they will not show up for you to select. Once sizes are gone they are unavailable. Select a size that is still available or select "no shirt" when you register.

5k Race Divisions: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.

Packet pickup will be available at the Shepherd High School track complex on Friday as it has in the past. Exact times will be emailed the week of the race.

    Make it a SUPER day and bring your family, capes and smiles encouraged. Dress up as your favorite super hero costume for this event! If you do not have a costume, no problem. We will have masks and capes available for all!

    The event will take place at Island Park, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

    Join us for a fun 5k course that will take participants through our beautiful downtown park system or lace up for a 1 mile walk along the scenic route surrounding Island Park.

    The purpose of this family friendly 5k fun run/ 1 mile walk is to bring together our community’s resources and showcase how we work together to raise awareness for victims of crime in our area. By coming together, we hope to create a more inclusive field so that every victim has the access to services and the support they need. They are the true heroes!

    Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) has challenged the Nation to confront and remove barriers to achieve justice for all victims of crime. During NCVRW, we recognize the accomplishments of the victims’ rights movement and reflect on how far we have come.

    Every April, The Office of Justice Programs, Office for Victims of Crime, leads communities throughout the country in their annual observances of NCVRW. In 2026, we will observe NCVRW, with the theme—

    The Alma Highland Festival Series of Races includes a Kids Fun Run, a 5K run, & a 5K walk. We will not be hosting a 10K event this year.

    Anyone aged 11 and up who registers for the race (5K Run/Walk) will receive a wristband good for entry onto the grounds of the Highland Festival. Kids aged 10 and under are free and do not need a wristband for entry.

    The Alma Highland Festival is one of the nation’s premiere Scottish Festivals, celebrating Alma’s rich Scottish heritage. Now, in it’s 57th year, the Festival is a two-day event filled with world-class Highland Dance competitions, Bagpipes and Drumming, Scottish athletic events, multiple music venues displaying Scottish talent, children’s games, reenactment events, craft shows and much more. Many families enjoy the Festival Race and then spend the rest of the day, or the entire weekend at the Festival events. Come see why Alma is known as Scotland USA!

    Come and join us for the 16th annual Lane Walker Foundation Race on October 10th, 2026. Again this year we have an event for everyone! For the serious runner we have the competitive 5k, 10k or Half Marathon. The entry fee includes a Pullover and a finisher medal. Or just come out and run or walk the 5k fun run. Fun run entry fee includes a T-shirt. Children 12 and under are free with a registered adult.

    **Register by end of day September 27th for a t-shirt/pullover. Late registrations will NOT receive a pullover or T-shirt. We will NOT be placing late orders.
