    Welcome to Thunder River!

We are thrilled to share these fall season courses across the iconic Columbia River Gorge! With a purely point-to-point 25K race and an epic lollipop loop 50K, world class scenery, fall foliage and incredible local support, Thunder River ceases to amaze. Both races culminate with a trail loop around Thunder Island surrounded by the mighty Columbia River, just before the finish at Marine Park in Cascade Locks. We simply can’t think of a better way to close out our event season!

    Marine Park

The event is staged in the heart of the Gorge at beautiful Marine Park along the banks of the Columbia River in Cascade Locks, Oregon, approximately 40 minutes drive east of Portland. Marine Park offers a number of amenities, including ample parking, indoor space, expansive views up, down and across the river... and ahem, an entire island, Thunder Island that is part of the last mile of the race course!

You Don't Have to be Fast, You Just Have to be Last!

The Lastest Not Fastest is a last-person standing style race, in the super scenic Columbia River Gorge! The course is a 4.1-mile loop on Hamilton Island, in Washington, just west of the Bonneville Dam. Runners depart every hour, on the hour, and have to be back to the start/finish area before 60 minutes. If you complete the loop in 40 minutes, you have another 19 minutes to rest and recovery for your next loop. If you do it in 50 minutes, you get 9 minutes to get ready to go again. If you take 60 minutes or longer, you are done. The race continues until there is just one runner left standing, err running. How long do you think you can run? There is an aid station at the start/finish area so you can run this race totally self-supported. Or, you can bring your besties or family to crew you. Spectators are welcome and make the event more fun.Capacity: 125
